I cannot figure out how anyone with a brain can figure this to be a "setup." Obama pays millions to keep a birth record hidden... IF the birth record is released birthers will have paid ZERO dollars and gotten a piece of evidence that any rational American would agree should have been released in 2008! So who would look like an idiot in this? Would it be Obama forking out millions to "trick" conservative voters or American citizens that just wanted verification of Natural Born Citizen status?

The American Thinker editorial staff is merely trying to cover **themselves** for doing a p** poor job of covering the issue from the beginning.
I think this “trick” explanation has been promulgated by media companies who gave it to their talkers as a ready-made excuse for not discussing 0’s eligibilty.
They have known all along that the issue is hyper-sensitive to 0 and they fear retaliation from agencies like the FCC or the IRS against media companies which decide to discuss it.
