Arizona-style immigration law dies in Wyoming House (Republicans control committee)

The immigration wars of 2011 lasted a week in Wyoming.

This afternoon the Wyoming House shot down Rep. Illoway's Arizona-style immigration law. The bill died in the Republican controlled "Minerals, Business, and Economic Development Committee."

According to Bloomberg News, no member of the "Minerals, Business, and Economic Development Committee" moved to vote on Illoway's bill. The ACLU, Wyoming Contractor's Association, and the Wyoming Lodging & Restaurant Association - the usual pro-amnesty coalition - opposed the proposed new law.

In case you are wondering, Republicans control and dominate this committee in the Wyoming House: Chairman Thomas Lockhart (R), James Byrd (D), Mike Greear (R), Norine Kasperik (R), Glenn Moniz (R), Jim Roscoe (D), Tim Stubson (R), Dan Zwonwitzer (R), and David Zwonwitzer (R).

Here are their phone numbers and email addresses:

YWC readers who live in Wyoming are encouraged to contact these Republican state legislators and ask them why they refused to vote for an Arizona-style immigration law and why they put the interests of big business, leftwing pressure groups, and illegal aliens above their own constituents.

Please spread this article far and wide on Facebook. We need to reach as many Republican voters as possible in the Wyoming and inform them of this capitulation to the Treason Lobby.

We hope Wyoming voters will remember these names in 2012.

Rep Illoway should return the favor by trying to throw wrenches into their favored bills.

Politicians are no longer working for the people (aka Citizens) unless they have money to give said politician. The media stopped being the free press long ago. The citizens are caught in the crossfire. The way the people are being treated is causing more and more of the people to say, “something is terribly wrong.”

Did not realize that there were so many treasonous anti-American GOP in Wyoming. Anyone who supports Illegal Aliens over American citizens commits treason.

It surprised me too.

Enzi, Lummis, and Barrasso voted against the DREAM Act in Washington. 7 out of 9 members of this committee are Republicans.

Not one could be bothered to vote for the bill. I guess these Republicans want Wyoming to be overrun by illegal aliens like California and Texas.

Looks like the Chamber of Commerce and cheap labor ranchers and service industries run Wyoming.

Farmers and ranchers do love their cheap labor.

And heavy duty chemicals.

Is there a Tea Party in Wyoming?

Not enough War (if any at all) has landed on their doorstep. There's a lib enclave in Lander - heaps more in Jackson Hole so am not surprised at what influences were probably in play.

“The ACLU, Wyoming Contractor’s Association, and the Wyoming Lodging & Restaurant Association...opposed the proposed new law.”

Socialists, like the ACLU, understand the greed of businessmen. There are capitalists who see how they can maximize their profits at the expense of their nation’s rule of law.

Wyoming politics are kinda funny. Cows, water and booze are the three big issues.

In general, the Wyoming legislature will put off issues that should be dealt with to deal with ‘social conservatism’ issues on purely symbolic matters first. And every one of these legislators is trying to burnish their “I’m a rancher too!” credibility in this state. Every political hack and candidate here tries to claim some ranching pedigree, but when most of them open their mouths, you can tell straight off they don’t know anything about ranching, or the business of ranching. But let’s put that aside for a second and go back to their habit of avoiding work to focus on social conservatism issues, including the one that really sends me up a tree, booze.

There is an obsession with alcohol in this state that beggars belief. The amount of time that the state legislature, county boards of commissioners, planning/zoning commissions, et al, spend waxing philosophic and legal over liquor licenses, liquor taxation, etc - utterly defies explanation. If you look at the legislative calendar every other year, you will see a few bills every session that deal with liquor licensing.

“Well, that’s only a couple/three bills per session...” you’ll say. And if you’re just looking at the legislative roster of bills, you’d be right.

But if you actually live in Wyoming... oh dear God.

If you live here, you’ll hear ENDLESS discussion and debate on these liquor license bills EVERY DAMN SESSION.

Some social conservatives really make me weary from the outset, and the goddamn prohibitionists and LCTU types are very high on the list. They’re nothing but a bunch of meddlesome busybodies who are fulminating a crusade that America has long ago decided was a foolish folly. But in states like Wyoming and Colorado, they’re still on about it, and they’ll try to re-institute that 18th Amendment to the US Constitution one little chip at a time in liquor licensing and DUI laws.

That’s a little explanation of what Wyoming spends their limited legislative time on.

And conservatives think these state legislators are going to challenge Obama's eligibility in 2012?

The established GOP can be a far more insidious enemy than the openly unpatriotic Left. That's because the GOP are skilled at making totally duplicitous conservative statements from time to time .... while standing in front of a flag with a straight face.
