A state senator from the Panhandle has introduced a bill that would allow people who have concealed weapons permits to carry their weapons on campus. Florida law currently prohibits guns on campus in most instances. Sen. Greg Evers' proposal also would allow concealed weapons permit-holders to carry their guns out in the open.

If I carried on campus I would need more than 21 digits to count the casualties.
Just kidding, of the course.

Maybe a lunatic will now be free to roam on a Florida campus.

I own guns and have a license to carry, but unless these students are fully investigated and have no criminal records then no they should not..To much goes on on Campus..Get more security with guns not give them to the students.. It is strange though you can get a gun at 18 but have to be twenty one to drink..By no means do I condone drinking..

If we don’t, then we are saying they shouldn’t have guns any place. We are saying they can’t be trusted. If this is true, then why do we let 18 year olds vote.

I liked the third answer. I’ve never been able to figure out why universities are considered some kind of “special” location incompatible with the gun laws in effect everywhere else in their state. If it works at Walgreens, how arrogant are the regents to claim some kind of special lofty status different from everywhere else in the state?

Get more security with guns not give them to the students..Ever seen a campus cop at your typical state university? They can't even protect the goal posts at a Saturday football game.
I know that it's a flip-response, but unless the universities are going to hire & train professionals then I don't see your suggestion doing anything to limit the potential casualties in such situations.

If you open carried you are probably right. The actual causes of death would be heart failure, stroke and auto accidents from running in front of oncoming cars.

They do have trained professionals at Baylor University..As a matter a fact they have their own police force there..I know because my son was an officer at Baylor..And yes they are some really good police officers..He later decided to go to work for the city of Waco..And for those that think Waco is a none violent city you need to check your statistics for Waco..It is one of the worse crime cities in the country.. Now I do not know about any other University but I do know about Baylor..

Oh forgot to mention Baylor brings in city police plus the police at Baylor to protect the goal post at Saturday foot ball games..Now I do have to say these are off duty police and they do have real guns and bullets..
Sorry I had to bring that up..

I’ve always admired the way they do things in Texas. Unfortunately I live in Pennsylvania.

We have traveled the world and lived in different parts of the world ..and I always was ready to come home..If you are just a visitor you are treated like family by a true Texan or if you move here it is the same..
I have to say during all the travels I had I loved every person I met..I always went with the attitude of giving a person a chance and treating them like I wanted to be treated..it works..There were many tears when I and my new friends had to say goodbye but I know I have a friend for life..
Oh and BTW I did live in Pa for two years and I love the people I met and became friends with..

Looking at this one, don't be surprised if it swings back around.
Does the open-carry bill show that Florida is too gun crazy?
*
Yes, absolutely. Florida keeps putting more guns in circulation everywhere parks, coffee houses, you name it. And now they want you to be able to openly carry a loaded weapon? That's nuts. (17042 responses)

No, definitely not. You are talking about law-abiding citizens doing something very legal. Don't have a knee-jerk reaction to the Arizona shootings, the second amendment is there to protect us all. (27777 responses)
