T. PETERSBURG - Three law enforcement officers were shot this morning – a U.S. Marshal and two St. Petersburg police officers – in the 3700 block of 28th Avenue South, police said.

A suspected gunman is barricaded in a home at 3726 28th St. S., and police are trying to negotiate with his family members. He is still shooting at police, officers said.

One of the injured officers had been in the home as well, but an armored vehicle knocked down the door and the officer was evacuated. That officer has been taken to Bayfront Medical Center.

As we were burying two of our own down here in Miami-Dade County, we heard the news that three in St.Pete were shot.

Thank you, Hulka for your words. It is pretty sad when someone can post such horrible, ignorant words.

Makes me sick.

Thank you for the ping. Estimations of activity are rising. Your point, and other posters' points do bear out the influx, into our society, of those willing to blame law enforcement. There is no doubt, many homes inside our nation teach hate to their young. The young are coming forward along with the influx or invasion of those who willfully violate this nation's laws. I too complain, yet my complaints to our elected appears to fall on deaf ears. In my state alone, the governor has closed prisons, and released violent felons onto the streets. The governor, of my state, is a democrat. The legislature for nearly a century and a half has been democrats. I see hopeful signs, in my state, because of the recent elections, yet nationally I do not sense anything other than continued mayhem. Mayhem is good for the lawyers and judges, not so good for the people. People are beginning to wake up, maybe. Waking up can be good or bad also. When an officer of the law goes down, society looses. Society has known this fact for a long time. Society is simply now in survival mode, perhaps. Personally, I am in survival mode. The answer, or answers from myself are lacking, also. I'll stand as best I can for myself and my family, for what I foresee as the coming onslaught. I pray enough of those who love this nation will stand together and not run and not retreat. Time will tell if this happens for the good or for the bad.

I expressed to a person I consider a close friend, not long ago, that any movement was dangerous. The person I consider a close friend replied, yes all movements are dangerous and then said, now I understand what stated the last Civil War. I too realized at this point why the last Civil War started. Civil Wars start due to frustration with those who lead. I do not want to lead, thus I sit and watch the movements from many factions and recognize I have no solutions, thus I too am frustrated. I know not who will come forward to lead, and I do sense growing frustration within this nation's population. Are there answers, yes. Are there solutions, yes. By the laws of physics, each action will be met with an opposite and equal reaction. Therefore I believe the consequences could be good or bad. Will leaders lead us or will these same leaders make life more difficult for law enforcement and the general population? I know not. For the moment our leaders have chosen to make things more difficult for the law abiding and law enforcement. Turning the tables back the opposite direction needs doing, yet I sense fear amongst the elected. It is all a choice, by leadership, on who pays the price, and those who are designated to pay, by leadership. For the time being, politicians have chosen their path, and the last election did little to nothing to change the current path. Backlash is uncommon from the law abiding, and the politicians know this and play the 'go along to get along' card constantly. If the politicians know something about a backlash out of the criminal community not being told to the public or law enforcement, because of the consequences expected, then the nation is lost to those who support mayhem and chaos, while those on the side of law enforcement are left to once more pick up the pieces and those lost because of a political decision....imho

Parking at the Trop is horrendous as well.I was at a game with my grandparents back in ‘09.There was an accident so traffic was re-routed.We were not able to get onto I-75 until we were further down the road.My grandfather wanted to stop at a run-down gas station to ask for directions....thank goodness there was a Walgreens in the vicinity. We were able to get onto the Interstate.Thankfully we were initally headed in the right direction. It was at night so there was no way we were stopping in an area that looked bad.

Today's newspaper revealed many details. The perp bonded out of jail before a Nov. 1 hearing for beating his wife to a pulp. That Judge made a major mistake. The US Marshall called for the backup and he's the one who remains alive but his name is not being released (maybe embarassing for Big Sis at DHS?). The first cop who was shot stuck his head in the attic and the shooting began. While he was bleeding to death, the perp took cop 1's Glock and shot the 2nd cop on the scene w/cop #1's Glock thru the ceiling.

The K-9 cop had just worked the night shift.

IMO, the house was totally demolished to protect the U.S. Marshall. They moved the demolished house to an undisclosed location to look for clues. That part is hard to believe. This hot mess was brought to us by a US Marshall. They moved everything to cover it up. Everyone is dead. Why gathering evidence for a trial that will never happen?

This war on cops is on Obama's watch straight up.

I think his sister’s name is Pheadra (sp). She was on tv yesterday. Aren’t they from a play or an old poem?

I left St. Pete but there’s Section 8 housing everywhere and everywhere is becoming ghettified and I mean culturally, not appearance-wise. Parts of that culture are fine by me but other parts beyond my comprehension.

The perp only had a pistol that was running out of ammo. AFter he grabbed the fading away cop’s Glock, he fired and fired away. Perp didn’t have much firepower until cop peeked into the attic.

It’s not about provocation in St. Pete. Not enough manpower and they knew the guy was armed and dangerous in the attic and they didn’t sit the perp out. So, they are gone. So’s the house. IMO, the St. Pete shooting is in coverup mode cuz the U.S. Marshall messed up. It was his operation and he managed it poorly so two local cops are deads. Thanks, Janet Napolitano, DHS.

If people are too cheap to park at The Trop and park on a side street for $5, when the game’s over, guys block the parking and demand more money or you cannot exit. My friend only parked away from The Trop one time. Who wants to be essentially be illegally detained like that?

This St. Pete shooting is DHS's hot mess. That's why the house was demolished and the wreckage was moved to an undisclosed location. Janet's covering up the mess her US Marshall made. His name is not being released. I think I know why. Who demolishes a perfectly good house if the situation is completely over and done with? Only DHS would. They say they are combing for evidence. What they are doing imo, is destroying evidence.

The estranged wife lost the roof over her head. She's a southern woman, a drall like Georgia or Alabama, with long brown hair, caucasian and was interviewed today on tv. She feels terrible for the cops and couldn't talk very long. She married the scumbag - she's got to live w/that the rest of her life.

Wow. I wasn’t sure yesterday why razing the house was necessary.

Will catch up later- am unplugging- we’ve got tornado warnings all over my area- all hell is breaking lose outside- hail. torrential rain, winds between 60-75 mph. Yikes!

It had to be DHS. It was their equipment. Today, the GOP Mayor said, "It was his idea to demolish the house and they are buying the widow a new one.". It seems that houses are now like guns and need to be taken off the streets.

When inaminate objects become the threat, this is what the govt can do.

I stand by my view that Big Sis took out a perfectly good house and the GOP Mayor Foster was told to say he did it. Are we going to demolish homes now as part of Homeland Security?

We need a conservative Republican President to get someone competent at DHS.

Symbols do not kill people. Bad guys kill people.

Oh, yeah. I was by the tornadic activity and the hailstorms and needed to drive in it. I waited as long as I could. The winds were really intense. May have been a super cell.
