I think the oe gives “r” sound you’re hearing. Also, the “s” at the end would be somewhat of a “z”.
Of course, I never studied German language except for my time in the many Gast Hausen when I was stationed there. I may not have heard everything distinctly and clearly over the beer.

I hear a distinct "R" and yes its "Z" sound for the "S."
I had a six months private course in German and lived in Braunschweig, W. Germany (then) for sometime.
