CALL/WRITE/FAX/VISIT your State Rep and tell them to KILL THIS BILL !!!
The FRS is in GREAT SHAPE ! The propoganda used to scare the people of Florida into believing that the FRS is in trouble... as is the case in OTHER States is BOGUS !
Here’s how this works - just don’t mention him. Capice?
Okay.. I can I refer to him as FReeper “xxxxxxx” ?
Or is that certain FReeper allowed to trash me publicly but is off limits?
special attention to FLORIDA FREEPERS
He asked to be removed from your ping list, and you never got around to it, and even lol'd his last request.
And then you attacked his motives for asking to be removed.
Just be cool and drop it. If he responds to your thread, you respond to him. Like normal people.
If someone doesn't want to be on your ping list, just remove them. If you maintain a ping list, it's your responsibility to honor requests about that list.
I do get it Sir or Maam.... I have MULTIPLE ping lists and the ping was an error.. GUILTY AS CHARGED..., I posted “LOL” because he seemed to make a HUGE deal about it.. I ping my FULL list to about 1 or 2 threads a MONTH ! I don’t SPAM 100s of threads to every FReeper.... which is what he seemed to make it appear.... that FReeper in question made a HUGE deal about it.... Like he wanted to make SURE he never read ANYTHING I ever write.... THAT is what was so funny...... I had to go through every ping list I had just to make sure he didn’t accidently get pinged from me ever again.... THAT is what the LOL was about... anyway... next subject..
BTTT
Maybe you should EXPLAIN why this is bad ... limiting public employees access to my wallet sounds like a good thing to me.
As expressed in many threads since BEFORE the Election and the beloved “Rick Scott” did not get a public endorsement from me.. but I DID vote for him.... Contrary to the belief of many FReepers who failed to view my “endorsement” of Alex Sink as the sarcasm it was.....
The truth of the matter is that the FRS is in GREAT SHAPE and many of us have worked our lives for LOW WAGES in exchange for a great retirement system... other states have significantly highers wages and have their employees “contribute” to their retirement by payroll deduction.. a mere shell game since ALL of the money is TAXPAYER MONEY any... Oh but wait there IS a difference it makes people “feel” like they are paying for something they are not.. and that is a liberal feel good solution rather than a common sense conservative one... KEEP FRS just the way it is.. period
No my FRiend.. it seems to me that you favor the Republican/Democrat solution over the INDEPENDENT CONSERVTIVE real solution...
Republicans/Democrats are birds of feather and funded by the same money pit.. the fast the REAL conservatives in America get it the better off we are.
Now Let’s GOOOH folks
By saying the FRS is in great shape, I assume you mean that it is fully funded. If that is the case, do Florida's public "servants" pay the full cost of contributions to the fund, do they pay part of the contribution, do they pay anything at all? I seriously would like to know what portion an employee contributes to their retirement fund.
Do retirees get full health care benefits, partial health care benefits, no benefits at all? If they get benefits, do retirees pay part or all of the cost of such extended benefits? Do these benefits end at 65 - the age of Medicare, or do they continue for life?
We have all heard the horror stories of the gold-plated retirements we are buying for our public employees. But no one ever actually tells us what retirees get. We are left to speculate.
You say: "The FRS is in GREAT SHAPE". Maybe so. Maybe there is enough money pouring into it each year to keep it solvent. But, if that is my tax money keeping it solvent, we don't have a fair argument until you give us more details.
I bet you think it's OK for a lot of other programs to be cut, as long as you are left alone. But, every one of those programs means someone will be taking a hit - if we stopped cutting excess spending because someone will be inconvenienced, then we remain in the death spiral we have achieved.
ummm...
Maybe FRS is in great shape now, and will continue to be in the future, because the Legislature is acting prudently to keep the obligations in line with the state’s ability to meet them.
just sayin....
Are you the Organ Grinder or the Monkey for GOOOH ?
Decent idea, bur hardly realistic.
BTW, I flavor the conservative candidate, party affiliation is meaningless to me. Both parties are corrupt.
You say your endorsement for Alex Sink was sarcasm where actually it was blatant manipulation. Come clean on that and maybe your posts would have a little more credibility
It appears as if the Legislature is cutting some costs and that
pensions are being cut. What’s not to like?
My wife is a public employee. She bemoans the low pension prospects and has more than 30 years in the system. She also understands and promotes whatever cuts the state makes. There is no fairness here. It is about economic survival of the state. FRS may be in great shape but it is part of the the total budget and the total budget needs to be cut and cut and cut wherever possible.10% across the board would be a fair start. Add elimination in toto of some agencies would make an even better start.
It is way past time for legislation to bring the retirement of public employees under control. The whole concept of double dipping and using over time to establish retirement benefits is nothing more than sticking it to the tax payer.
Exactly, I just got done actually reading the bill and that's exactly what it addresses.
Also Mr. DavidOsbourne in all his hysteria has nothing to worry about since the bill takes away nothing form current benefits and only addresses the future.
This thread should be pulled since he is pimping this post for his own financial self interest
