(CNN)-Republican Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann made political waves in Iowa with a visit to the capital city Friday, raising speculation of a possible presidential run in 2012.
"I am very encouraged by what I heard and the level of support that I saw today," Bachmann told the Des Moines Register.
The tea party favorite sounded much like a presidential candidate while addressing the Iowans for Tax Relief group Friday night.
"It is not too late to change course and save this great nation. I believe we can preserve this exceptional nation-this land of promisefor our children and grandchildren, she said. "We've got this tiny window of opportunity and the tea party patriots are saying, 'We have to take our country back.'"
Ties to the first-presidential-caucus state may serve Bachmann well should she choose to run. Born in Waterloo, she summoned her Iowa roots stating, "I feel like I know you, because I was born here. I was raised here. These are my values. I feel like we understand each other."
Bachmann maximized her visit to Des Moines by spending time at the Iowa Capitol in meetings with the governor, house and senate leadership. She also traveled to the state GOP headquarters.

Love Sarah, but I’d vote for Michelle before I’d consider a vote for Sarah. Better yet would be a good conservative man.
Let the best man or woman win!
She is at least one thing a Minnesotan can be proud of!
I’ll be ecstatic if any rock-ribbed conservative gets in. Right now, the only ones that fit the bill who are toying with the idea of running are Bachmann, Pence, DeMint and Cain
Let the RINOs lose!
Done
I’m the opposite.
I’m relunctant to vote for Palin because I’d like to WIN the general election with a conservative (man OR woman) and I’ve yet to be convinced she can do that.
With Bachmann I just don’t like, respect or trust her. I think she’s in it to advance her own profile and while they all are to a point she’s taken it to another level.
She seems to skip the locals for the most part though, goes straight to the national spotlight - smart woman!
I'm curious, is that just your opinion or do you have anything to back up your suspicions of Representative Bachmann?
Bachmann is great. The news media and ALL of TV will attack Palin or any conservative who is threat to them.
Bush wasn’t conservative and they attacked him endlessly. TV and the leftist media are s**t.
Of the four you mention, Pence stands heads above the rest IMO.
"One day, somebody's gonna have to make a stand. One day, somebody's gonna have to say enough." (Clash of the Titans)
If Michelle's that somebody then good for her!
From what I’ve heard from Michelle’s own lips, she is much more substantive and stalwart in conservative principles than I’ve heard from other prospective candidates, even Sarah.
All else being equal, I’d still prefer a man for POTUS than a woman. The two sexes are just too different, no matter what conventional wisdom may say, and a man is more fit for the job.
I’m certainly no mover and shaker in the MN GOP. I have however, spent a couple of hours with Michele and she is the real deal.
I have a pretty good people-meter and Michele is honest-spoken, genuine and, get this, a true conservative. What’s NOT to like about that?
If her tires get slashed .... Pawlenty did it :)
“...one thing a Minnesotan can be proud of!”
I agree.
I moved across the St. Croix river to God’s country -Wisconsin- a couple decades back. But I still drive through her district, where I was born and raised, to get to my place of work a few times a week.
She’s great. How about an interstate Midwest ticket: Paul Ryan / Michele Bachmann 2012?
Behold one awesome patriot!!! Michele has more spine, guts, and cajones than 98% of the males in Congress and the RNC.
You guys over there have a great opportunity with this last election and the super prize of dumping Doyle. I really hope you make the most of everything.
Best of luck to my neighbors to the East!
