You're right. Why does everyone overlook the fact that to be a natural born citizen, both parents must be citizens. So what if Obama's real dad is his grandfather, or the communist poet? At least he would have been born in the US, with two citizen parents. That's all I care about, that he be qualified to be President.

Here is the statement by Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Health Department of the State of Hawaii:

"I ... have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen," Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said in a brief statement. "I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago."

(note- she said a "natural-born American citizen, NOT natural born United States Citizen.)

(Note- she said American citizen, not a United States Citizen)

Nowhere did she say that she had seen the original "birth certificate"

That would not do it - legally.

Legally, his birth father of record is BHO. Nothing can easily or directly change that. The formal divorce between BHO and SAD established the LEGAL ‘fact’ that BHO is the birth father. ‘Best case’ for Obama might be an authentic Hawaiian BC with no father at all. But that would itself create a eligibility issue since father-less children have not been considered ‘natural born’.

Unwinding the legal declarations of the divorce would create a another thread of issues. There is no elegant unraveling here.
