Political intimidation is alive and well in this country. Anyone who believes that Hollywood has the power to make any film they want without consequence must be dreaming. You may remember what happened to the excellent docudrama The Path to 9/11 in 2006. The scared-to-death Clinton camp was so terrified that they pushed with all of their might to get the program pulled from the air. Fortunately it did get one single airing in two parts.
Regardless, the Clintons used their pull at Disney (who owns ABC) to intimidate producers, writers and anyone else involved in the project. People like Bob Iger and Anne Sweeney at Disney were pivotal in trashing the series. To this day the DVD is not available for this film and is strategically locked in the Disney vault. Anyone who has seen the film knows that it is not libelous to anyone and is a fair depiction of the events leading up to 9/11.
This trend continues as political intimidation proves useful while freedom of speech is constantly threatened.
Over the last week or so weve seen a similar fate to a new series, The Kennedys, which was supposed to air on The History Channel. Members of the political Left rounded up the usual suspects and theories to blame this series on purposeful misinformation by the Right. The History channel ultimately dropped the series but it did spark the interest of Showtime who also backed out. If there is any good to come out of this, maybe the filmmakers who worked on The Kennedys will be spared the death threats that were flung at those involved with The Path to 9/11. That is, unless DirecTV picks it up.

Because the Kennedy family forced the History Channel to cancel the broadcast, I want to see this program. Now I am interested. If the Kennedy clan had quietly allowed the program to air, I would never have watched. Thanks for the heads up, Caroline. I hope I can at least buy the DVD version overseas.
I must respectfully disagree with you. HOLLYWOOD does indeed have the power to make the movies it chooses to make. “HOLLYWOOD” today is not defined as the Hollywood of years past. Today’s Hollywood is absolutely free to make any left wing, anti-American, corporation bashing, conservative hating, religion degrading film they desire.
I question if the “9-11” and “Kennedy” documentaries were made by a part of “HOLLYWOOD”.
If anyone doubts me, how is it the Michael Moore’s propaganda is instantly hailed, lauded and applauded, totally without any political interference or pressure
I have a copy of “path to 9/11” on DVD. I got the full show off of E-bay for around $30.00. It is the one that was supposed to air without the editing that the Clinton’s forced them to make. So you can buy it, just not from any distributor.
Pretty chilling stuff.
Back in the 1990’s, the ABC news magazine “20/20” was going to air a segment showing the involvement of the Kennedys with Marilyn Monroe.
Ted Kennedy and the rest of his gang got ABC to pull the segment. To my knowledge, it never aired.
I got my “Path”...

I’ll just have to see if they show up with “Kennedys”.
