MANITOWOC — A White House planning department staff member visited The Manitowoc Company on Wednesday as a possible tour stop for President Barack Obama, said Tom Cioni, director of Worldwide Marketing Communications for Manitowoc Crane.

He said the president was interested in potentially visiting several places in Manitowoc," Cioni said of the White House event planning, noting The Manitowoc Company is Manitowoc County's largest firm with 13,000 employees at facilities in more than 20 countries. Founded in 1902 as a shipbuilding enterprise, The Manitowoc Company sells lifting equipment worldwide in its Crane operating group and commercial foodservice equipment in the Foodservice group.

Cioni was told Obama wanted to visit companies Wednesday that are doing well and interact with employees. Cioni said it certainly doesn't hurt that a mammoth Model 31000 crane is undergoing extensive inspection and operation checks in Manitowoc Crane's 30th Street test yard.

Barry and his handlers at the White House will think the Manty 31000 crane will make for a great photo op, but if the sycophant MSM who will be traveling with him had any ability to actually report, they would realize that the awesome 31000 crane exposes exactly what is wrong with Obama's economic policies.

The 31000 crane is a testament to american engineering prowess, and is a sight to behold. Reporter should ask what such a huge crane will be used for. I will help them out..................From the buyer of the crane, we get this info.................."Ashlock is planning to use the crane for lifting reactor vessels in refineries and in nuclear plant construction, but he is not limiting the potential market. "I was told a long time ago by Dave Birkhauser, 'Build it, and they will come.' We bought the first 300 US ton Krupp hydraulic crane in the USA in 1992. I was more worried about that than I am about this. The crane is bigger than what people are used to, and it can do things in a different way." David Birkhauser is Manitowoc senior vice president of sales, Americas.

He added that it was a '50-50 bet' that he would send the crane outside the USA."

How many refineries and nuclear plants are being built in the USA currently? What is Obama doing to facilitate the oil industry? EPA suing Texas for 'greenhouse gas" violations? Shutting the gulf off from new drilling? How about the nuclear industry? Have we heard Barry making the building of nuclear plants easier? How many years does it take to get past all the gov't regulatory agencies to get a plant built? 10 years? 15?

The Manty 31000 is indeed a marvel, it is just too bad it will probably be used to build infrastructure in China or South America rather than rebuilding our own country.

Kudos. Great post. 200 nuclear power plants would put the US back on top of the world instantly.
No more foreign oil, let them drink it.

FUBO! The pantywaist is going to visit a successful company and either take credit for its success or contemplate taxing it out of business.

BO is the WORST president ever in the history of the U.S.
