When you vote someone into the presidency without the experience of a hot-dog stand manager, you get turd-in-the-punchbowl results.

And as bad as the unemployment numbers are, they tell only a small part of the story.

Many professionals who were contract workers saw their careers simply evaporate, but since they were not employees, they could not seek unemployment. And for every person whose business died, there are ten more hanging on by the skin of their teeth.

My brother has (had) a successful real estate appraisal and consulting business. They had an extensive list of banks and developers for whom they provided commercial and residential appraisals, market/economic analyses, and portfolio evaluations.

They also had good professional relationships with many firms against whom they competed for business (and occasionally worked with on joint projects).

Of the thousands of families who depended on livelihoods related to his firm and/or its market area (as clients, contract workers, employees, competitors), all but a few are now broke, insolvent, bankrupt...or on life support.
