There has been uproar in the Irish parliament after five ministers quit the cabinet inside two days, with a sixth expected to join them.
It was confirmed overnight that four had tendered their resignations, joining Foreign Minister Micheal Martin, who stood down on Tuesday.
The enterprise minister is said to be also planning to resign.

Even so, it looks like the "Celtic tiger" is tottering. I wonder how many of the paddies are going to suddenly remember they can claim British citizenship?
These are the poor saps OUR reps are hoping not to be. The trick is to be long gone before the house of cards collapses.

Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen has announced that he intends to dissolve parliament and call a general election on 11 March.
Mr Cowen was addressing parliament after five ministers resigned from the cabinet, prompting uproar in the Dail.
The prime minister told members of the Dail (TDs) that his main task from the start had been to secure the best interests of Ireland.
He said that existing ministers would take on the work of those who had quit.
