The K98 is a very strong action and is well represented and copied by many sporting rifles. That does not necessarily make it a Better Weapon.

The Garand had better sights than the K98 and a Higher Rate of Fire and more Magazine Capacity.

I own a 1917 Sporterized K98 and a Bosnian K98 as well as a very nice Sako which is an exceptional K98 copy.

But, If I had to go into Battle I would Grab my Garand first and My M4 for the light close in work.

Probably true, but the post was about a sniper weapon, the draw back of the grand is the same as most autos. I have a 25-06 sako myself, a beautiful thing. Also have. 220 swift on a Springfield action. Both are fine rifles. But the M 14 is a better weapon for military work the best sniper in the world used one..
