New York Sen. Chuck Schumer strongly criticized Gov. Chris Christie for canceling the ARC tunnel project that would have added a new rail tunnel between New Jersey and Manhattan.
...
But at a press conference in Newark to announce the approval of 23 new charter schools across New Jersey, Christie responded to Schumers criticism by saying the New Jersey would not be able to afford any cost overruns on the project, noting that unless Schumer was able to contribute another $5 billion dollars, he should mind his manners on the other side of the Hudson River.Read the full story at nj.com

Schumer has to be stunned. I can’t think of a GOPer ever punching back at him like this.
For a Yankee the boy ain’t bad!!
Christie should hold a master class for the GOP, titled “How to walk, and talk like a man.”
Christie is not the typical Republican who tries to “stay above” responding to Dem sucker punches (like Bush) or who is too weak-willed and namby-pamby to respond. And I love him for it.
But keep yapping about that tunnel, Chuckie....
Boy aint that the truth. Gosh I luv that man. Wish we could clone him.....what a refreshing change of pace from all of the repubbie whining and carrying on and groveling to the media....
This is how you deal with Democrats. Christy has written the playbook. Republicans just need to find a backbone and take on the Dems directly and forcefully.
“it doesn’t work because he does it with good cheer”
Just like Ronald Reagan.
I have never heard a Republican take the gloves off the way Christie does. You sure don’t have to guess what his position is.
But how can this be?
Senatorial candidate Hillary promised to bring new industry upstate if only the people would vote for her.
Then again, Senator Hillary promised to bring industry to upstate if only she could be re-elected.
Not sure if that last promise was made before or after she promised to finish her term as Senator. That would be the one she didn't finish.
Actually the playbook was written by Fiorello LaGuardia, the Republican Mayor of New York from 1933 to 1945, in his dealings with Tammany Hall. By the time he left office, Tammany was pretty much destroyed.
Giuliani and Christie have updated the playbook for the modern media era.
Christie just keeps on delivering.
He clearly doesn’t give a damn what people think of him and speaks his mind.
How refreshing !
It’s an excellent start but I don’t believe he was forceful enough or as direct as he should have been. A direct “STFU you moron POS” to shumer would have been a much better response IMO.
FUBO & FAD
Yeah, he's jolly!
True Republican ideology requires intelligent voters. That's why the Republican base is about 30% of the total vote pool.
So, in order to win an election, Republican strategy aims to appeal to soccer moms, illegal alien businessmen running taco roach coaches, the so-called independents, gays and lesbians who aren't totally stupid, retirees, homeowners, etc. etc. yadda yadda. They think that in order to attract these people they have to come on like Democrats, just more patriotic and somewhat more fiscally sound. And of course, when they do, they piss off the base. The deal is "Well give you more than the Democrats, keep your taxes low, and we're good clean people." Hell of a platform.
50 years of this, and there is little practical difference between a normal, middle of the road Democrat, and a RINO Office holder. And now, too many Republicans are just plain frightened of being real Republicans. Along comes Christie. To tell the truth, he's got a RINO streak a mile wide, but he also has some notion of Republican ideology and he's a tough guy. More important, taking on the Democrats like a man, holding them by the nose and kicking them in the crepes suzette is a good strategy because we literally have nothing to lose that we haven't lost already.
Maybe the guy's got the legs to go national. We need some people in the high places or it's national disintegration.

Yeah, but there's more to it than that.
Unlike so many of our contemporary politicians, when he "takes the gloves off," Gov. Christie doesn't just spout off, he actually studies and understands the issues, and he offers solutions with his criticisms.
When pressed for details, he can actually respond with details.
Doesn't mean he's perfect ... but he's doing pretty good.
