On the heels of the fatal shooting of an Omaha-area school administrator by a despondent student, Sen. Mark Christensen of Imperial introduced a bill Tuesday to allow teachers, administrators and school security guards to carry concealed guns.

Sure, why not. We should blanket legalize concealed carry for ALL Teacher, Pilot, UAW, Postal Carrier and SEIU Union members...but just them and the police. Everyone else should be on a case by case basis. /s

this plan makes too much sense. although they should include adult students as well, it is a step in the right direction.

When my daughter who was in the school at the time of the shooting said she thought it was bad idea for teachers to have guns in school I asked her why. She said “it would be scary”.

When I asked her what it would be like if the guy had come into the cafeteria and started shooting everyone in there she said “OMG” then I asked what if a teacher or someone else would had had a gun to stop the guy..

she then thought about it and asked would that teacher have to go through training then yes ok I think SOME of them should have guns.

The left has successfully made most arguments EMOTIONAL. I try to get my children to think logically.

See my tagline.

I’ve been preaching this for years—maybe things are now gradually starting to change!

I see the pro and cons. I would support having limited numbers of teachers be allowed to carry firearms. Who? The ones who would be willing to divulge if they are on any sort of medication, been treated for a mental disorder, take a firearms class and qualify at the range every six months, and be strong enough to KEEP and maintain the firearms on their person (i.e. so that someone doesn’t take the firearm). Had a conversation with my son this morning about this topic. He said during all his years at school (10 years) it was in his opinion that perhaps 10% of his teachers had the mental stability and maturity to carry a firearm. He further stated that 25% of his teachers either were too emotional, immature, exhibited bad behavior, too weak physically to maintain possession or were just plain not “mentally secure” to be given that type of responsibility. The 25% he would actually fear for his and other kids safety. Perhaps some states are different than mine. Union teachers are given a lot of leeway with respect to behavior IMHO.
