(Tucson) Prayer service turns to rally
Washington Times ^ | January 18, 2011 | Franklin Graham

Posted on 01/19/2011 3:08:19 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

...Carlos Gonzales, a member of the Pascua Yaqui tribe, was introduced to offer a blessing amidst loud cheering, at which time he introduced himself as "not a medicine man - just a family doc." What followed, an 8 1/2-minute self-tribute, more resembled an Academy Award acceptance speech than a prayer or a blessing.

Mr. Gonzales blessed the "eastern door, from where we get visions and guidance," the "southern door, where we get the energies of the family," the "western door, where we honor the sacred ways and sacred ancestors," and the "northern door, where we receive challenges and the strength to meet those challenges." Rather than calling on the God of heaven who made us and created this universe, which He holds in the palm of His hand, the university professor called out to "Father Sky, where we get our masculine energy" and "Mother Earth, where we get our feminine energy."

How sad. Father Sky and Mother Earth can do nothing to comfort.......

For the sake of these innocent people and for Americans everywhere, I wish someone could have prayed to the One who created all of us, Almighty God. The president quoted from the great textbook of grief, the Old Testament book of Job - always fitting words in times like these. Perhaps the Yaqui tribe representative, the president of the university - someone - could have echoed the words of the Psalmist: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth."

..... My question: Why were the clergy of Tucson - the men of God - excluded?

They are liberals.

And university liberals involved in Native American studies are the most lip-frothing liberals of all.

He looks as “Native American” as I do without the long hair.

My guess is he was hopped up on peyote.

Make no mistake, the Obama event was a carefully crafted political event with the Liar-in-Chief distancing himself from the vocal anti-Second Amendment and anti-First Amendment radicals who comprise the bulk of his party, while cleverly tossing in some cryptic comments which demonstrate his REAL thinking.

People on our side who praised this performance by the The One are soft in the cranium.

Yes. The president nurtures the cesspool but floats above it. However, he does take the occasional dip ie those nasty, revealing “community organizing” episodes that pull back the mask, revealing his true agenda.

Very disappointed that Rex Murphy’s Canadian audiences will perceive from his carefully crafted words that the vitriolic, accusatory language last week came from the left and the right.

Although he does mention that Sarah Palin was attacked (yet again), he really does not get across the message that the hate speech is coming from the left. He uses the image of Glenn Beck to imply that he was talking dirty as well as Olbermann, Matthews, etc.

Disappointed, but not surprised, that the CBC would consider this accuracy in reporting.

I think a very large block of Canadians as well as Great Britons more than understand the clear divide in the United States.

Teacher at University, son of Mexican mother and Yaqui father

Can someone explain the difference? Mexicans are either Indians (including Yaqui Indians) and ethnic Spanish. The Yaquis are an Indian tribe, with members living both in the US and Mexico. Is this man a US citizen?

I love Franklin Graham but I for one am not excusing President Obama in all of this mess.

He could have taken control of this group. But chose not to so he can hear them sing his praises.

As for the hate that is spewing from the left towards US, he could have and should have addressed the nation in telling these nutballs to shut up.

He thrives on the chaos. Say what you want about President Bush, but he would have shut this crowd up and reminded them why they were there.

For shame Mr. Obama.

Funny, I’ve studied some Native American culture. (Navajo) There was nothing traditional about the setting. A real Navajo singer, a “traditional,” would not have done anything like that. This guy is a liberal Native-American wanna-be. He may know the words and the ceremonies, but that does not make him a holy man. You have to live the life, believe in the medicine. Just as merely reading the Bible or showing up at Church once in a while does not make you a Christian. He claims he got permission from his elders to do this - of course. The elders would know that what he is doing is merely a show for the whites, has absolutely nothing to do with their religion or culture.

Good post.

The one thing the Left is famous for is the multitude of grievance groups they have identified and collected under the Democrat banner.

Yes, but the theme that Sarah Palin is worthy of ‘hate’ is also held by a very large block of people who believe the propaganda that they are fed.
