I think that stategy has been considered, and rejected. This controversy has allowed Obama to paint his critics as nut jobs, has allowed him to divide his opposition by segregated them into two groups, Birthers and Normal People, and has all of elected Republicans on the run. In short, he's VERY happy with things as they are.

Anyone too afraid to defend the Constitution if mocked with mere insults such as "birther" or "nut job", will **never** defend it if faced with the true threat of serious tyranny.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, I’m just giving my observations of the situation as it exists. The last two years has shown that, so far at least, it’s been a very successful strategy on their part, and I don’t think they are going to change what they are doing.

After all, how hard would it be for the most powerful office in the history of the entire world to produce a fake document. It already exists, but there is no need for it to be released.
