Suspect in Custody After 2 Students Shot at California High School

DEVELOPING:Authorities say two students were shot Tuesday morning at a high school in Los Angeles. One person has been arrested.

Police believe the gunman, a black male wearing black clothing, is a student at Gardena High School, the school where the shooting occurred.

Police say one bullet was apparently fired accidentally hitting a 15-year-old boy in the neck and a 15-year-old girl in the head. The girl is in surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, police say.

Sources reportedly told The Los Angeles Times that after the gun fired, the student who brought it to school apologized to his classmates before running out of the classroom.

• All high school students will be x-rayed or felt up upon arriving at school.
• Children of Christians and veterans will receive extra scrutiny.
• Black clothing is prohibited.
• Hard pens and pencils will not be allowed.
• Fexible rubber pencils up to 5" will be allowed.

We don't need new laws restricting guns in school - what we need are responsible parents and school administrators.

For years I saw many students bringing guns (rifles and handguns) to school, allowed by the schools - and parents.

They were there during various hunting seasons - the students were high-school age, all of them well trained in gun safety.

Today we have idiots as parents, teachers and average citizens.

Yeah, head and neck? I suppose it could have done that from floor level if the two people shot were 30 or 40 feet away, but close up the only way it could hit two people like that is if they were in a lip lock.

Not once did any of those guns ever get fired accidentally... as none of them were ever loaded... that is, until after school, and after arrival where game were.

I understand banning firearms ON school property; however, think about some houses sitting next to or across from a school. How about driving by a school to the range? Would there be firearms in your vehicle? Many schools are based in neighborhoods. Would you take away the constitutional right of a homeowner based on what some nitwit did? Just a thought.

Sure was. The gun accidently went off and shot two people. The shooter wasn't white so it's already a non-story to the media. They've moved on.
