I’m not up on current things, but I remember there have been State co-ops trying to become an alternative to the FBI, as an information clearing house.

Still, in the age of Google, Facebook etc, we hardly even need that kind of government centralized clearing house. Private enterprise could do a better job of chasing down theft and burglary rings, and various frauds and cons.

The GOVERNMENT-run drug war is ultra stupid. If we need to battle addictive drugs then private enterprise is FAR MORE ABLE to without criminalizing 50%+ of urban black males.

To my understanding automobile traffic law would have a better footing if re-grounded in the established common law of harbors and navigable rivers. Traffic enforcers should NOT have arrest powers.
