As far as I know, states issue both driver's licenses and ID cards (for non-drivers). In our sate the non-driving ID card is a freebie or a nominal fee at the DMV. Now, tell me why a photo ID is not suitable for presentation at the polling station (unless you're doing vote fraud)?

Totally agree with you. My comment was regarding a social security card. The card and number are not to be used as ID. A state ID card is easily obtained in every state I’ve ever resided in
