Two prominent conservatives have joined forces in an attempt to get Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) into the race for president.
A Draft Pence for President movement launched Monday, led by conservative former Rep. Jim Ryun (R-Kan.) and Ralph Benko, who served as an adviser to President Reagan.
The pair founded the American Presidents Committee, a political action committee dedicated to promoting a Pence presidential bid through the website www.theconservativechampion.org.

We could definitely do a lot worse.
Nuts....
It doesn’t matter, Pence is running for Governor
Hypothetical scenario: What if Mike Pence declares for POTUS by the end of this month and Sarah Palin follows up in February with ... Now that Mike Pence is in the race for POTUS 2012, I have decided not to run and he has my full support.
Would this change your opinion of Mike Pence for 2012 POTUS?
If Pence runs and DeMint does not, I think Palin will endorse.
My greatest fear is that Demint(who I like) will endorse Mitt with a token con as VP.
If Pence wanted to run for President then he would. I don’t believe in “Draft” anybody. If they don’t do something of that magnitude on their own, then they aren’t the person for the job.
Would his heart be in it? Would he say to himself during important decision making processes that he really didn’t want this job in the first place, and use that as an excuse to make a half-azzed decision that didn’t really help matters overall, or possibly cause problems in the future as do “unforeseen consequences” common to the RATS?
I think there are too many reasons to NOT “Draft” somebody to something if they don’t migrate to the position of their own volition.
Pence!
Roger that. I want an authentic conservative and don't believe that Sarah Palin is the only one. DeMint, Pence, Palin (there are a few others but unlikely to gain broad enough support) are equally acceptable to me. Again, none of these have even stated they will run, Sarah Palin included. Sarah Palin, if she would choose not to run (a scenario that I think is possible), would be the likely 'king-maker' with whomever she chose to endorse.
Yes... name the names... let us decide who is and is not Conservative. Pence is a good man but I do not trust anyone in the republican party in any position of any power at all.
LLS
Pence sounds good, so does DeMint.
I also like Joe Bolton.
We need somebody who can debate Obama with half his brain tied behind his back and come out ahead. And someone who won’t be another damn Bush, or a Romney or a Christie type RINO.
Not Bolton. Pense or DeMint, with Bolton as either SecDef or SecState. Probably State, actually.
Foggy Bottom needs fumigation from years of subversion.
What is it with everyone talking up Washington insiders that have never had the buck stop with them? They are only voters in Congress - not leaders. I like Pence and DeMint and yes their conservative credentials are better than most, but Congress Critters do not make good presidents. Give me a Governor, CEO, or Colonel/General/Admiral. Give me someone who has experience with having peoples’ livelihood depend directly upon their actions.
Unfortunately for Kansans in Ryun's district, he forgot about them so he lost in a Primary to a RINO bent on pretending to be the Conservative that the voters once thought Ryun to be.
>> They are only voters in Congress - not leaders <<
Amen to that. Let’s hope the GOP and the American electorate will be smart enough to tell the difference between show horses and work horses, between talkers and doers. No more thin congressional pretty boys like Pence or DeMint. Give me a fat ugly governor like Barbour or Christie!
You might want to take a closer look at Christie. He is a socialist just like the Bushes. Haley Barbour - the jury is still out. His approval of eminent domain seizure of private property for private business is disturbing.
His approval of eminent domain seizure of private property for private business is disturbing.
That alone is enough to keep me from ever voting for Barbour, thou I doubt seriously that he will run.
I’d support demint in a second, thou Palin/Bachmann is my dream ticket.
That would be a dumb move. DeMint is a strong Conservative, Romney is a Lib.
I agree. She's excellent in getting Conservatives elected, and best suited in that role.
DeMint is my number one choice. He's not passive like so many others.
