It’s funny that those people are the biggest gun grabbers in creation, yet all of their body guards have guns. Typical case of “good enough for me and not thee”.

The New York Times writers apparently forgot that the idea of using language for political ends is a key tenet of Marxism. And something everyone alive today is familiar with as they have lived through all the left wing campaigns to change the meaning of words and how they are used in society, and the left's never ending attempts at using speech codes to control the political discourse in society.
While I doubt it is possible to determine for someone with the degree of mental illness Loughner apparently suffers from what influenced him, other than his own sick mind, Loughner certainly was exposed to plenty of manipulation of speech and language by the left during his years in school.
This is what is known as "burying the lede."
