The audience erupted in wild cheering, applause, and screams of delight.
Again it was radio I did not see Mr. Keillor's reaction to the audience's joy.. it must have been with somewhat disapproval however because the audience quieted down.
I do remember the day JFK was assassinated. Among the people I knew there were already jokes that day like "Well, Jack, besides that what did you think of the parade?"
.. but none was anything like delighted that it happened. No one had even imagined that it could happen. It happened.
At least early on I think most jokes were recycled Lincoln jokes.
I sure as heck didn't hear anyone cheer.
