European defense giant EADS expects the Pentagon to award the $35 billion KC-X tanker contract as early as next month.
"The contract award was to have been around the middle of November last year. It has moved toward next month," EADS North America Chief Executive Officer Sean O'Keefe said Wednesday in Paris, citing information from the U.S. Defense Department.
European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. is in a fierce competition with U.S. arch-rival Boeing for the contract to outfit the U.S. Air Force with 179 in-flight refueling tankers.

I would be okay if Boeing and the politicians pull this from EADS IF ........
Boeing moved some jobs to the site where EADS was going to build the tanker.
I believe Northrop/EADS won it fairly last time. I feel as if they’ve been cheated. Truthfully, I don’t care if it’s Northrop, EADS, or Boeing that brings jobs to my area.
Boeing would have had a lot less resistance if they had said they were going to employee 10,000-15,000 along the Alabama/Mississippi Gulf coast.
To me, it’s about the jobs. I don’t like the jobs being stolen from my area because of unions, politicians, corruption, etc.
Protest will be in the day after the contract was awarded.
