Yes, America needs some soul-searching

When I traveled the world representing the United States during the George W. Bush administration, I was often confronted by people who wanted to blame the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, on American foreign policy.

U.S. support for Israel, along with the suffering of the Palestinian people, they told me, had spawned the resentment and anger that resulted in the attacks on our country.

OK, I'm missing something, I'm sure some freeper will fill me in.

It's nice that Karen didn't blame 9/11 on Israel you cannot blame the murder of innocent people on any grievance, no matter how legitimate.

Myself, I reject Karen's concelp of legitimacy, but so be it.

As to Joe Straus, get over it Karen, as you acknowledge even as a non-Christian he was re-elected 132 to 15. No one paid attention to that nonsense.

It's nice that you're in love with Obama's speech, I liked it too, but he didn't call me or my family to our better selves. Sorry, he didn't.

BTW Karen, yes, Scripture counsels that we will be held accountable for every careless one. Our words can lift up or tear down, bring us together or rip us apart. Slander is the equivalent of murder to some of us.

The thing that most people miss is that Barry can afford to “act presidential” and regurgitate “good speeches”. He’s got millions of commie agitators out there on the internet and in the state run “media” doing his dirty work for him. He only took “the high road” because he could.

"Obama did what American presidents should do in times of national trauma: He called us to our better selves. Now it’s up to the rest of us."

It is the height of hypocrisy for BHO to call us to better ourselves while he's busily and successfully tearing us and our country down. How much have we lost in prestige and influence and security and money since he was elected? 25%? 50%? Something like that. So now he comes running like a damned vulture to get face time over this tragedy while his lackeys are blaming every one except the shooter. They've got no beef with him, he's carrying their water!

They settled their differences like men in 1861-1865, and I wonder if that's where we're headed now. Only a coward would compromise with Obama and his socialist ilk.

Karen used to know better than to pick up the cudgel for the other side and begin knocking down her own troops.

What was it Ronaldus Magnus said ~ "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican." The object was to end the sort of thing the Rockefeller Republicans engaged in during Barry Goldwater's campaign.

BTW, many of the Republican office holders that folks accuse of being RINOs are actually following in the step of the Rockefeller Republicans ~ and are not RINOs at all.

But, back to the doddering old lady, Karen Hughes, she's not got it anymore ~ whatever "it" was ~ it's just not there or she wouldn't have let her nurse write that nonsense for her.

Sp grievances against Israel are legitimate?

More equivalence of good and evil are unacceptable.

Well, nuke Mecca, and tell everyone it's the result of Al Qaeda attacking the U.S. See how they feel about the blame going that way.

Oops, forgot the ping in post 1.

Karen appears to be blaming 9/11 on Israel's treatment of the palestinians. Though she doesn't see the action as justifiable, just as the Tuscon attack wasn't justifiable, despite nasty political rhetoric.

At least that's my take, maybe someone else can explain it to me in a fashion that wouldn't cause me to reject a candidate hiring her.

Obama's speech was as phony as a Jimmy Swaggert revival.

I, for one, remain unmoved by the Dark Messiah.

“Civility is code for CENSORSHIP”

I understand what you are referring to, so in no way am I arguing your point.

I just wanted to point out that some of us try to remain civil while refusing to be censored. I am one of those people. I speak my mind, yet I attempt to do so with the utmost respect for those to whom I am speaking. Even enemies. There’s some old adage about respecting your enemies, so I figure that comes into play.

For my part, I refuse to be censored. They will have to get rid of the First Amendment before they can try to censor me, and I dare them to try.

Of course.....but your civil speaking can be conscrued (sp) by certain liberals as “incivil” just by the words you use.

Karen Hughes is just carrying water for the political establishment. Don’t say anything provocative about the Arabs (our business interests have to be considered) - so anger over the Palestinians might just have engendered 9/11. And Obama’s speech was oh so Presidential (not like that wascally Sarah Palin, whose support for Tea Party candidates might just cost the establishment their jobs).

Obama’s speech made me think of some preacher preaching to his congregation about morality, while everyone knows he’s carrying on a covert affair with a 14-year old boy.

And they often are. I like to play games with the libtards. As silly as this sounds, I started trying to apply the principles I learned in Aikido to debate, and it works! Redirect the energy and they shut themselves down. It’s beautiful.

They often turn on each other when it happens. Like sharks with blood in the water. They go after the weakest.

When Republicans win elections, calls go out for bi-partisonship.

When conservative ideas take hold in society, it's time for soul-searching on violent rhetoric.

When deficits are high, it's time to raise taxes. When deficits are low, it's time to raise taxes.

When America is attacked, it's time to examine American foreign policy. When America attacks, it's time to examine foreign policy.

When is it ever time to look at the failures of liberal ideas and policy? Never, if you go by the media story line.
