Marxist Democrat Cringes As Russian Immigrants Compare Communism to…Democrats!

There is just no way to describe this without a smirk and a chuckle. When you read how some of New York’s Russian immigrants (who know Soviet-style Communism all-too-well) are aligning with Republicans—because they view Democrats’ policies to be too similar to the failed policies of their homeland—there is just something richly ironic there. However, when you read how their never-met-a-Marxist-she-didn’t-love Democrat legislator reacts to be having her party compared to Soviet Russia, now that is just over-the-top funny:

Businessman Arkadiy Fridman said that the newly formed Citizens Magazine Business Club, a confederation of more than 50 Russian-owned businesses here and in Brooklyn, has aligned itself with the Molinari Republican Club (MRC) in an effort to increase the Russian community’s political and economic clout.

CLOSE TO OWN VISION

“We decided we had to support this club,” said Fridman, a former Soviet Army officer who came to the United States in 1992. “They are very close to our political and business vision.”

[snip]

Fridman said that the Democrats “are going in an absolutely different direction,” focusing on “income redistribution” and rich-versus-poor “class war.”

“It’s too socialistic,” said Fridman, head of the non-profit Staten Island Community Center and president of Citizens Magazine, a public affairs publication. “It’s very painful for us to see.”

And, if that weren’t bad enough, the Democrats’ are reminding the Russian immigrants of something they thought they left behind:

The Big Brother approach reminds Fridman too much of what he left behind in the former Soviet Union.

State Sen. Diane Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn) said she understands the Russian aversion to anything that looks like big government, but thinks the criticism of the Democratic Party is off-base.

“You can’t ignore the fact that the Russian population here came of age during the Soviet era,” said Ms. Savino, who counts many Russians among her Brooklyn constituents.

“They have different thoughts on what communism and socialism mean. They are a little more sensitive to it."

Most of my Russian friends say the very same thing. Talk to a few Ukranians an they will voice it even louder. The Dems are being led by folks who adore Marx and Mao. Folks from socialist states see it most clearly.

>>“They have different thoughts on what communism and socialism mean. They are a little more sensitive to it.”

Democrat elites believe that they are smarter than everyone else. They believe that although marxism has been tried many times and always results in misery and death, the only reason it hasn’t succeeded is because THEY have never tried it. This is why everyone that opposes them is painted with the “stupid” brush. You and I and these Russian immigrants are just too stupid to see how great it will be when we all live in socialist harmony—and they live in special “Party-Only” areas of town with armed guards and stores that only sell to them.

They are not confused. They are not misguided or uninformed. They are the enemy of the American people and the human race. And yes, Mr Obama, that is “divisive rhetoric”!

She said the word "think". That takes a brain Diane, which you would not know the whereabouts of such.

I have always thought that what really got under the skin of the American and European left about the Soviet Union was that “scientific socialism” was being run by Russians in Moscow instead of by them.

I’ve said this on FR before. Just about any immigrant you meet that has escaped a Communist government will NOT vote Democrat.

We’re friends with a couple who escaped Vietnam on the boats and they say the same thing.

I agree with Mr. Fridman, it is painful to see.

We hear this over and over again from immigrant callers to talk radio. They are shocked that having seen what socialism/communism does to an economy and how it dehumanizes the citizenry, that any Americans would vote for it here.

They also recognize what too many Americans don’t and that is, that America truly is the last bastion of freedom and when it is gone, there will be no where to go for any of us or no where to come for any of them.

The democrats need to be very publicly and very loudly called out on why they seem so intent on following the communist goals for America.

http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm

They were awfully uncomfortable with reading the constitution for some reason.

>>29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.<<

My husband and his immediate and extended family all left Cuba after Castro’s take over.

Of the family members who lived under Castro and escaped NONE ARE DEMOCRATS. (And they do not like RINOs either.)

Many were very involved in the Tea Parties speaking out against the big government socialistic grabs because it was all too similar to what took place in Cuba.

I work with a former officer in the former Soviet military and he is in the minority (hopefully) on this subject. He says “there’s no such thing as communism. There’s Leninism, there’s Stalinism, but there’s no such thing as communism.”

His point is that all anti-communism is essentially silly since it opposes something that has never existed.

I try to tell him that if he had lived under Stalin and spoke those same words “no such thing as communism, only Stalinism”, he would have been in a gulag so fast his head would spin.

But of course he doesn’t listen. Once you take the step to deny the inherent evils of communist ideology, you stop listening to all appeals to reason.
