Hello. You dont know me under this name. For reasons that are going to be obvious soon, I didnt wish to send you this message with my usual Free Republic account. This message is an invitation, a welcome to a new forum called TrueBlueFreedom.com
While I love the people who make up Free Republic, I have many complaints about Jim Robinson and his cronies who run the actual website. Over and over again, whenever somebody has complained or offered suggestions, they have been told by JimRob and others to go and start their own website if they know so much. Well, Ive decided to take them up on that offer.
Ive started TrueBlueFreedom.com for three simple reasons, and once youve read those reasons, Im sure youll agree that we need to make a few adjustments if we want this powerful bastion of conservatism to remain. The first reason is simple: Free Republic is too important to left in the hands of JimRob. Jim and his son John have repeated stated that if just one Freepathon goal isnt met, thats it - Free Republic will be dead. I cant stand the idea of America without Free Republic. Imagine if we hadnt been there when Dan Rather was passing around his forgeries, how different things would be today. Now realize that, as things are going, we wont be around when the next Rathergate happens. We cant allow that to happen, and since JimRob has publicly refused to deal with this issue, we have to take matters into our own hands. My solution is TrueBlueFreedom.com
The second reason is that I believe that free market capitalism has made America great, and that attempting any other system will lead us to ruin. A belief JimRob apparently doesnt share, since he continues to refuse to place ads on Free Republic and instead depend on a PBS-esque donation system. We are not NPR, and we are not a charity why do we raise money like one? For this reason, Ive developed TrueBlueFreedom.com to depend on advertisements. TrueBlueFreedom.com will not depend on donations, instead, we will depend on the opportunities provided by the free market to create a self-sustaining version of Free Republic without the constant Freepathons.
The third reason is that JimRob is, in my opinion, a petty tyrant. How many of you know somebody who was purged? How many wonder if you may be next on the list? If youre neither of these people, consider this: Giuliani was Americas Mayor in 2008. That didnt stop JimRob from purging all his supporters without warning. How do you know that whoever you support in the Republican primaries wont raise JimRobs wrath? How do you know the next purge group wont be Mormons, Jews, Birthers, Pro-Palin, Anti-Palin, and so on? I believe that purging the non-believers and demanding total mental agreement with the Dear Leader is the exact opposite of conservative values, regardless of where JimRob stands on abortion and homosexuality. And for that reason, Ive set up TrueBlueFreedom.com as a place where conservatives who follow the rules will not be banned, no matter how much I disagree with them. Regardless of your politics, religion, or favorite sport team, you will only be banned for breaking the rules. TrueBlueFreedom.com is a purge-free zone.
So, I hope youve read all this, and will accept my invitation. If this seems like something you can believe in, come to TrueBlueFreedom.com, sign up, and start talking. And if you like it, spread the word. Because Free Republic is too important to just let die.
Man, seems like if you got to have implants, they could at least do what they were supposed to do.
Oh, I thought he said "pretty" tyrant! :O
I noted the comment about the Mormon’s as well. Interesting that a number of the Inmans got it.
Then maybe I didn't understand what was posted by another Freeper ('paulycy') discussing the possible end of this forum. .

I don't want to see FreeRepublic dissapear, so I'm trying to understand what's going on.
Please explain - is the person in question trying to start an alternative, or is it a RINO/Romney scam job, as you suggest?
LOL. Zactly!

glad your not deaf, or hubby would not only have to read the menu to you, he’d have to yell it...LOL
That's why I'm wondering if the troll isn't still an actively posting FReeper instead of a banned one. Someone who was banned would have nothing to lose by identifying itself.
Someone with an active screenname would.
Lord, he’s the one who’s deaf...lol. Well, conveniently, deaf. You know?
Your admonishment is well received and accepted humbly.
By way of explanation, my original post was intended to demonstrate how tolerant JimRob really is by using the eligibility threads as an example. It wasn’t intended to be anything more than that.
Perhaps you should also chastise the two posters who decided to launch personal attacks in an attempt to start a fight. I responded once to defend myself. I felt that was appropriate.
Putting it into context:

I certainly did not mean to say anything that would warrant a flaming, but simply stated the truth. Its been weeks that this has been going on, and I will be the first to say that I have no idea what is happening behind the scenes at FR Central, but it is very frustrating.
Perhaps the problems stems from DoS attacks, or simply a lack of hardware/bandwidth/software, but if Freepers find an alternative and start migrating it will be hard to get them back.

I agree....I think it is time that FR start allowing advertising to help defray the costs associated with such a demanding website. Maybe banner ads like Drudge would help.
Then the first phone call to make is to Oracle. Get those guys in-house to build a massive, lightning fast, database.
Unless something happens FR will quickly lose. Most of us that love FR hate the problems, but if a good alternative pops up it is human nature to move on, and it will be more than difficult to get those lost back.
Just sayn....

Well, I can say that there are definitely two things that will never happen. 1) Banner ads. 2) Oracle.
And a third is a total replacement. Dont have the financial wherewithal.
To those who wish to leave because of it, see ya. If FR dies, thats that.

They were talking about converting our system to Oracle and taking on paid advertisements to pay for it or else our readers would migrate away. I basically said that was nonsense. It got all blown out of proportion from there.
you seem like a nice tyrant
Some of us have posted previously on websites where sheer nastiness prevails and there seem to be no guidelines regarding inappropriate posts. We found FR and never went back. God bless Jim Robinson and the FR family of donors, posters and readers.
Strange that "blue" is part of the new website name, when that color symbolizes democrats and liberalism. Also there is a 'True Blue Freedom" affiliated with the US Border Patrol.......
Dear Mrs Dog Doo,
I didn't get an invite to your party. What's the matter with me? Am I not worthy of joining a club dedicated to the stuff that most people just scrape off the bottoms of their shoes when they step in it? Huh? Huh?
Oh...it's Mrs Dog Ood? Never mind.
Pittsburg is about 40 minutes below me...no wonder they’re callin the site “Blue”...Pittsburgh is so Demo-rat if you walk the streets you have to clean your shoes off before coming in the door! How stupid to mention Blue in their title...some are just not real brite it does seem.
wagglebee: "What was their name?"
UnwashedPeasant: Username was StinkyJoe. He joined in 2003 and banned in 2008.
Why, thank you very much, woofie. That’s one of the nicest things ever said to me.
self-policing!!!
Whenever I get discouraged we might be "preaching to the choir," I remind myself that Freepers have this dogmatic and intractable self-policing ability that keeps us ALL straight and in pursuit of the truth. (and, I agree, "If Jim hadn't developed a culture that is ruthlessly factually *accurate* it would have died off years ago." Thanks for reminding me why Freepers make FR so unique. Reminds me of an anecdote I recently emailed to a friend: a great line from Jack Nicholson in "Something's Got To Give" with Diane Keaton --- in which he plays an aging womanizer dating her daughter & they all end up around the dinner table. Keaton (playing a middle-aged playwright) is quizzing him about his reputation, and Nicholson says, "I always try to tell some version of the truth." Keaton says, "Version of the truth?" "Truth doesn't have versions!"
