What a great place the Motor City was for a kid like me to grow up in the ‘40s & ‘50s. Sob.

Talked recently with a good friend who lived in Detroit as a kid. She went back recently to show her kids the house she grew up in. The house was gone. So was much of the neighborhood. Not just dilapidated. Gone. Back to prairie grass gone. It was very unsettling for her.

I grew up in Dearborn in the 60’s and 70’s. Very nice. My dad worked for Ford. Dearborn is still considered one of the better places in the area, but the whole area has gone downhill. My brother still lives in Northland. He’s one of the few GM survivors.
