What is the political lession of the last few years?
I fear it is probably this:
That it is just as easy for faux conservative candidates to play on a groundswell conservative movement and win elections as it is for faux socialists to trade on the entitlement mentality of American liberals and win elections during their ascendancies.
Scott Brown and Chris Christie are two great examples of how are side is easily scammed.

Now tell us what they’re saying...
To: Alas Babylon!
Morning AB, All
.
As always, thank you AB for doing this thread every week, even in the southern snows.
Lovely morn here in the swamps of Delaware. Cold here but we had to be the only area along the coast that didn’t get walloped with a snow storm last week. Heard folks down south got his and they do not fare well with the white stuff. Heard up north they got over a foot and while they’re more accustomed to such stuff, they too were aghast.
Last week we had our Sussex County Delaware GOP meeting. Seems the Sussex chair appointed himself a, heh, “parliamentarian”, I guess to better control us radicals who are struggling desperately to take back Delaware’s Republican party from the Ruling Class Blue Blood GOP.
Now appointing a “parliamentarian” is okay even though the Sussex GOP never followed a rule before in their lives. Only this “parliamentarian” sent an email to all the major players in the party, including Chair Tom Ross and Mike Castle, and it was horrible.
For a Sussex Countian, Don Ayotte, sent an email, per the bylaws of the Delaware GOP, that he intended to run to replace Tom Ross, the fine fellow who told the world that Christine O’Donnell couldn’t win dog catcher, filed charges against her campaign and worked against her, possibly causing her loss.
Below, a quote from this email:
“How are you able to be a spoke person for ALL of Delaware ? ... Why & under what premise do you think you have the POWER & WISDOM to as you said to UNITE when you & your crowd have tried to KILL SUSSEX?????”
I mean was this appropriate for this new “parliamentarian” to be sending out? Why can’t Don Ayotte run for the office and maybe win?
The crowd that showed up for this meeting was mad, MAD.
It was a riot and I got it all on tape. Below a little quote from a post on Delawarepolitics.net:
One woman stated loudly In all of Sussex County, if you cant get a better Parliamentarian than that then it insults all of us!
Two guess who the person who shouted this out is and the first two letters are ME.
Anyway, below the entire story, with pics of the major players
.Ron Sams and Don Ayotte, from the local Wilmington News Urinal paper.
http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011101130338
I was there folks, yes I was. I taped it and had to run out because they tried to stop me. They threatened to steal my video camera!
You simply will not believe how determined these people are.
After the meeting, this new “parliamentarian” was fired.
What you think, he was appointed by the Wilmington Blue Blood Ruling Class GOP to stomp us irate Sussex Countians back in our place? Hmmmm?
Later I’ll detail my relationship with both Don and Ron
.sheesh
.it boggles my mind. Don, btw, is a writer for Redstate.com, and worked on many local newspapers.
I am now on something called the Sussex County Conservative Coalition. It might be a local story but by me it’s indicative of how difficult it’s going to be to get control of this party away from the Blue Bloods. Across the fruited plains.
Please Freepmail me if you have a Freep ping list. I am compiling a Blog post which will feature all the FreeRepublic ping lists. Include a short desc of your ping list and your Freepname which should be used to sign up.

Christie will have a long road to hoe to gain my allegiance.
Don’t forget he endorsed Mike Castle (WHO DID NOT WIN THANK THE LORD) and he’s a RINO in my book.
Granted he seems to be a fiscal watchdog and he gets my respect for this. But give them time and RINOs will inevitably veer off to become big spenders like the Dems they so want to reach across the aisle to.

Pawlenty was behaving like a typical politician.
Love that the cigarette tax is NOT a tax, it’s a “health impact fee”. Heh.
Politicians, gotta love ‘em. They wind the English language around their tongues till the words come out all tied in a bow and properly spun.
Someday everyone WILL stop smoking and then who the politicos gonna beat up for more money?

I wouldn’t compare Christie to McCain. McCain is in a fairly conservative state and Christie a more liberal one. I applaud Christie for the conservative positions he has and his taking on the unions as he’s done.
Even though some of the pundits laud Christie as a national candidate I doubt he would win a nationwide race for conservative Republican voters.
It’s kind of like MD and other states that lean left. We have to take what we can as we continue educating voters and showing results. Colorado, for one, has a problem with the teacher and government union workers pensions. It’s going to bankrupt our state unless something is corrected. I will happily use Christie as an example to counter the union demands of unlimited pensions and healthcare.

I received this via e-mail this morning. Thought this would be a good place to share it....
What Has America Become by Ken Huber of Tawas City
Has America become the land of the double standard? Lets see: if we lie to the Congress, it's a felony and if the Congress lies to us its just politics; if we dislike a black person, we're racist and if a black person dislikes whites, its their 1st Amendment right; the government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and they do almost nothing for the victims; in public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process; you can kill an unborn child, but it is wrong to execute a mass murderer; we don't burn books in America, we now rewrite them; we got rid of communist and socialist threats by renaming them progressive; we are unable to close our border with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel in Korea; if you protest against President Obama's policies you're a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it was your 1st Amendment right. You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas; we have eliminated all criminals in America, they are now called sick people; we can use a human fetus for medical research, but it is wrong to use an animal. We take money from those who work hard for it and give it to those who don't want to work; we all support the Constitution, but only when it supports our political ideology; we still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct; parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games; the land of opportunity is now the land of hand outs; the similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help. And how do we handle a major crisis today? The government appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens them, passes a law, raises our taxes; tells us the problem is solved so they can get back to their reelection campaign. What has happened to the land of the free and home of the brave? - Ken Huber Tawas City

Yeah, reportage! Now tell us what theyre saying...
The focus of the ABC town hall has been just reviewing the events of that day, pointing out the heroic actions of various people.
Debbie is actually being very quiet - only speaks when spoken to!
Now they are discussing the investigation into Laughner and why he wasn't arrested before this tragedy occurred. Law enforcement guy says nothing rose to the level of an arrestable offense.....says he doesn't want to live in a police state where you can be arrested for being wierd, saying inappropriate things, then locked in a mental institution.
Pink (and purple and green) hair dude made some comments along the same line.
Neighbor describes Laughner playing in a jazz band four years ealier, and how beautiful it was, but something changed.
