I agree that the guy looked drunk from what I saw on the news. He did look wobbly on his feet and very spaced out.
Or he could be goofed out intentionally on the pain meds they gave him. It wouldn't be unusual for someone with alcohol and substance abuse problems to go off the wagon with a convenient excuse like prescribed pain meds.
He does seem deliberately evasive about what got him discharged. Saying "non physical" is like saying "non daylight" when what you really mean is "dark".
