On the one hand, I'm flabbergasted, on the other hand, I'm beginning to understand how a total nincompoop like Deputy Dawg Dupenik got elected to office for the last 75 or 80 years or however long he's been Sheriffin' the moonbats in Tucson.
Tucson has been a Democrat city for decades. The number of Republicans (and they are substantially aged and lazy group) has been matched over the years by the growth of the University of Arizona and Pima Community College (two pathetic examples of “higher learning”.) It is generally assumed that more than 10 percent of the college population, i.e., 4,000+, votes twice. Once in Tucson, once at home. As for Giffords, in a very tight race she won by 4,000 votes, with the U. of Oregon considered the deciding factor.
In fact, there are two Tucsons: The area north of Speedway where the majority of hardworking, taxpaying sufferers live. South of that street one finds the university student body, the Chicano crazies whose willingness to settle arguments with a gun appears to match that propensity found in Juarez, and the equally crazy bunch out at Davis Montham Air Base. I guess it’s just your average everyday college town.
