Republicans went to the Heartland today for their next party chair, choosing Wisconsin attorney Reince Priebus to head the Republican National Committee for the next two years into and through the crucial 2012 presidential election cycle. His tenure begins effective immediately....

Goodnight everyone, pray for our military! God speed for my son in law and his soldiers.
God Bless America!
TWO Percent?!? Hey whoa!
Two percent of him being great or two percent of him letting
us down?
Not that this matters, the RNC is not our path, but an obstacle. But the Chairman is whom we’ll be bickering with the rats over, so it’s ~important in that sense.
Reince is a first-cousin-once-removed of Mrs. tractorman.
He is the real deal.
We couldn’t be happier for him, us and all conservatives.
Harris is brilliant.
I’d vote for him for any office in a heart beat.
I’m sure the liberals hate him.
Reince Priebus...what kind of name is that? Too many vowels. He should take them all out...RNC PR BS. Wait a minute, abort, abort!
Since many contributors basically cut off the RNC, they really needed to at least pretend to move toward the tea party/conservative wing of the party. We’ll see what we get. Withhold judgment and money until you see his actions. He may just be a puppet that the RINOs can jerk around, but we’ll see.
Hes a tea partier kind of guy. I hope he can carry it nationally!
I heard somewhere (not that I ever head of this guy before) that he is some kind of Barbour stooge. Watsa story?
“Reince Priebus...what kind of name is that? Too many vowels. He should take them all out...RNC PR BS. Wait a minute, abort, abort!”
Now that was funny, I don’t care who you are! :)
We'll have to wait and see on this one.
I don’t know anything about his guy, and he may be just fine....
But is there some kind of GOP bylaw requiring them to select people that even 99% of Republicans have never heard of? Ed Gillespie, Ken Mehlman, Mike Duncan, Michael Steele, and now some guy named Priebus?
What the hell? Are there no former Governors or Senators interested in the gig?
Hank
It will be interesting to see if his election will get donations flowing again. I for one have been giving them an earful when they've called for money. But for now it's wait and see. The new congress needs to show us what its got. They can't make a huge sea change with a Democrat Senate and White House but they can resist. Will the GOP get behind conservatives/Tea Party candidates? Prospective donors are waiting to see where their precious campaign dollars will do the most good.
Wait, this is a JUMBLE, right? Don’t tell me...
I don’t know what to make of this. Big Government is none too pleased:
RNC Open Thread

Tonight, the RNC elected Reince Priebus as the next RNC Chair. As state chair in WI, Priebus managed to shrink the number of both small and major donors. (There is a reason the GOP is called the stupid party.) Donate money to the RNC at your own peril. We will have news soon about an alternative. Hold onto your checkbooks for now though. There will be a multi-pronged effort to deny donations to the RNC. Stay tuned.
I think you guys are reading way too much into these claims that Reince’s law firm equals Reince.
Priebus works for the Michael Best firm which has 220 attorneys. This is one of those large firms with tons of liberal attorneys populating it and it needs those guys to keep getting State work from the Dems who have run things here for decades.
I’m not sure Priebus really even does a lot of legal work for them, but that it is more a convenient paycheck for him and provides the firm with some GOP visibility politically in the State.
This law firm thing is a big red herring. The guy is a conservative through and through. Whether he succeeds big-time, I don’t know though.
I read that link to the story against Priebus on RedState.
As you read that article, it is clear that the author’s entire gripe against Priebus goes toward alleged actions at our State convention last summer which endorsed Ron Johnson for Senate over two other candidates, Terrence Wall and Dave Westlake.
For Freepers who don’t know inside politics in Wisconsin, Wall and Westlake were vying for the right to run against Russ Feingold. Westlake had no money and Wall was a terrible candidate. Ron Johnson emerged because of this void and the party establishment quickly embraced him because he was so good (and guess what—he beat Feingold).
But these Wall and Westlake people are so enraged about Johnson not “waiting his turn” or entering the race early like they did. So they keep on pouting about things. Especially Wall. The guy still thinks he was robbed of a Senate seat by a conspiracy.
So this RedState rant is almost entirely inside baseball by a disgruntled supporter of a candidate who lost and partly blames Priebus for it.
All I care about is that the guy Priebus supported (Ron Johnson) was one heck of a great candidate and he knocked off a liberal lion in Feingold. We just ran great Tea Party candidates in Wisconsin and didn’t let the kook Tea Party faction like Christine O’Donnell types into these races. Part of that credit goes to Priebus
The guy said SOME....lol.
Is this guy a new Shrek character?
