I hope you didn’t get the impression that I admire Obama. I want him out of office so bad I can taste it. I oppose practically everything he has done since I first heard about him during the Democratic National Convention when Kerry got the nod. The man is dangerous to this country.
I liked that he clearly stated that it was NOT a lack of civility that lead to the shooting. That rings with more honesty than anything else he has said.
He clearly called for people not to use the Tucson shooting as an excuse to turn on each other. I can’t argue with that.
I have no illusions that this was anything more than a political opportunity for him. I’m not naive, nor am I stupid. But the speech itself is not a problem or issue.
I was so focused on the speech, because of my own desire to dismiss it as more political crap, that I failed to focus on the rally itself. The rally was the real problem. The speech was just a small part of the equation.
It would be nice if Obama EVER took responsibility for ANYTHING. I have such low expectations that something like this strikes me as an improvement. How sad is that?
It’s all good ... I wouldn’t have suggested that.
It’s just that the speech wasn’t anything to write home about. The rest of your points are well taken and I did not intend to infer that you were anything less than upright. Apologies to you.
