I might be wrong, but didn’t Obama skip michigan in 08? Because dummy McCain not only quit here, he announced he quit to the whole world costing us two congressional seats.
McCain didn't have a chance after the bailout vote, but his quitting killed us downticket, including my district.

MI was a waste of time. it started that because they moved the primaries so early, DNC stripped their votes. so they all pledged not to campaign in MI. obama wasn’t even on the ticket.
he followed through and never even showed up in MI the whole election.
