Seriousness and solemnity is so 20th century. Our side can be just as bad - sorry to report. We had a threat from Westboro to show up at a military funeral in my town. Had a couple thousand turn out, supposedly to support the family and keep the dirtbags well away from their view.
Along with a lot of flags (good) we had loud motorcycles (I am neutral on that), horn blowing (bad) loud music (bad) and chanting, yelling and screaming (very bad).
I think people are afraid of silence.
