Dem pollster: What Obama really needs is an Oklahoma City moment
Hot Air ^ | November 5, 2010 | by Ed Morrissey

Occasionally, political pundits get so wrapped up in their analysis that they don’t think through all of the implications of their commentary. That happened to Mark Penn, longtime Democratic pollster, in his appearance on Hardball last night, in the most charitable explanation possible. Eyeblast’s Joe Schoffstall clips this magic moment from the discussion with Chris Matthews on how disconnected Barack Obama has become from the American electorate, and what it will take for him to reconnect, using Bill Clinton as an example:(video of Chris Matthews show)

President Clinton reconnected with Oklahoma. And the President right now he seems removed. And it wasn’t until that speech that he really clicked with the American people. Obama needs a similar kind of, yeah. So it will take a terrorist attack for people to like Obama, or perhaps a natural disaster? That’s what Penn says here, and it’s worth noting that Matthews doesn’t bat an eyelash at the suggestion. Had a Republican pollster suggested in 2004 or 2006 that George Bush could really use an “Oklahoma” to reconnect to the American people, the media would have run endless stories about “wag the dog” notions.

Our Fearless Leader has already assured us that we can “absorb” another attack, just like we have “absorbed” 9/11. We’re all better and ready for the next one, right?

Where is the analysis of whether the Dums were really HOPING for a tragedy to boost Zero?

They sure tried to make this the equivalent of Oklahoma City, didn't they?

Actually think the Dems whole purpose in this was to divert the Health Care repeal vote.

Yes, it seems they are so transparent and arrogant that they tell us what they are going to do, expect us to fall for it.

I thought Beck covered the subject of the Radical Lefts attitude that anyone other than THEM are stupid cattle that need to be hearded to the stated goal ( cattle are usually heared to the slaughter)
Bernays was some kind of insanity ravaged anarchist.

Funny you should mention the back of the bus.

I was just thinking about the various funerals and memorials that the dems have befouled with their bizarro behavior.

Rosa Parks was one of the them.
Coretta Scott King
Paul Wellstone
Robert Byrd

I know there’s gotta be more.
It would be nice to see a reporter compile them into one column to demonstrate their inability to behave with respect.

And Chris Matthews regretted Clinton was not POTUS for 9-11.

You know the ramblings of the Lefties this past week makes me sick to my stomach. The sheer volume and flood of hate is something I don’t think America has experience, at least in my lifetime. And that includes the late 60’s and 70’s.

I recall my reaction concerning the 9 year old getting shot. That was the worst aspect of the massacre. Thereafter, the Left’s campaign to falsely incriminate Conservatives became another layer of hatred that overshadowed the initial violence of the massacre.

If you think back the initial reports were only that the deaths included a child. It wasn’t until the blowback on the smears that they moved the Little Girl to the forefront. sort of like a human shield. And ofcourse its as if the Federal Judge (a Republican) didn’t exist.
All were innocents, murdered at the hands of a mad man.
