Systematic Assassinations Not Part of Our Politics
RCP ^ | 1/13/11 | Michael Barone

Posted on 01/13/2011 12:33:52 AM PST by paudio

Systematic political assassination can be effective, with horrifying results, as the examples from Germany and Japan show.

And the example from Pakistan shows that President Obama, his administration and members of Congress have a very difficult problem on their hands, more difficult since the sudden death last month of our hugely able diplomat Richard Holbrooke.

Suggestions that the shooting in Arizona are of the same ilk as these examples is something of a blood libel against the politicians of all stripes in our country and of the American people. No American politician, no significant segment of any political movement, no statistically identifiable share of the American people wishes the violent death of its political opponents.

I guess Barone didn't receive a memo about the danger of using the term 'blood libel'.

It originally meant the charge in mid-evil times that Jews ritually sacrificed Christian babies and drank their blood in some ceremony.

It now means an outrageous untrue accusation.

Palin is like an english teacher. She’s consistently using new terms that we never heard of and we have to google it up. The Liberals googled it up but still get it wrong. Theres an original meaning, kinda like the Crusade, Holocaust, but over the years the usage of that word have come to mean events similar to the original meaning, which is to mean outrageously lie about an individual or group of ppl in order to generate hatred and violence against them

Obamao and his handmaiden, Hitlery are of one mind in their hatred of America.

Do you recall when President Klinton stated......

And that’s another thing that’s wrong with America.....

I forget the context but it was clear that he was part of the far left America hating cabal.

“No American politician, no significant segment of any political movement, no statistically identifiable share of the American people wishes the violent death of its political opponents”

Just last week former house member Kanjorski D-PA, wrote that the new governor of Florida should be put up against a wall and shot.

In the Jewish context, it meant they were falsely accused of the deaths of innocents in order to inflame public opinion and rage and violence against them

Yassir Arafat used this charge against Israelis killing Palestinian children for body parts

Sarah Palin’s comparison to what the MEdia is doing to her and her family- is right on

Blood libel, or Blood Feud , are synonymous terms for a concept from the Bible. What is interesting is to see the DEFINITION of BLOOD FEUD.

A feud : (referred to in more extreme cases as a blood feud or vendetta or faida) is a long-running argument or fight between parties—often, through association fallacy, groups of people, especially families or clans. Feuds begin because one party (correctly or incorrectly) perceives itself to have been attacked, insulted or wronged by another. Intense feelings of resentment trigger the initial retribution, which causes the other party to feel equally aggrieved and vengeful. The dispute is subsequently fuelled by a long-running cycle of retaliatory violence. This continual cycle of provocation and retaliation makes it extremely difficult to end the feud peacefully. Feuds frequently involve the original parties’ family members and/or associates, can last for generations and may result in extreme acts of violence.

In our nation’s history, during one Presidential election, one party made up posters and gave them out that had a picture of the opposition and a phrase something to the effect of “Please kill this guy”.

Nothing new under the sun.
