Must have been carrying an extra pole or had lead shot.
Officer replies in Spanish "have a nice day sir"
“So basically, everyone around here is complaining that this kid got a warning and not a ticket.”
—Again, you’re missing the larger point. It’s not directly about “complaining” about the fact that he didn’t get a ticket. It’s about fact gathering:
The kid had been arrested before, the cops had visited his house numerous times, and he had made numerous death threats- all of which seemingly should’ve been in his searchable record.
Adding to the fact then, how often do the park officials make stops like this? Was he behaving oddly? You can say, well the parks officer didn’t think so- but do fish and wildlife officers really have the necessary police training to make this judgment? What exactly is their training regarding 4th Amendment search and seizure issues relating to vehicle stops?
And if his detailed police record was in the searchable record when they looked- would the parks officers have realized that maybe they should call for more experienced officers to come to the scene?
One better? At least he got an education and didn’t have to fork over a $180 tuition bill.
The thing about people that think government is the answer to all of society’s ills (the original meaning of socialism) is that they always want more government after misapplying the government they had. This is true in monarchy, aristocracy, mixed, leftist/socialist, and republics.
One of the originating priciples of the Old Whigs, the original classical Liberals that broke with monarchal faction dominance was a constant fight and attention to the “arbitrary application of power.” In monarchy, aristocracy and in mixed governments such as King-in-Parliment as the British confined it after 1688 is there is still a group of people that think government is always the answer but then are arbitrary about how it is applied.
That is what this county sheriff did, he gave the county woman’s kid a pass, “because he was being treated” or reasons such as this.
The end result is that big government people, don’t apply what law they have fairly and then they always see more law, regulation, tax and restraint as the proper remedy to what transpires. He should have gotten his record check-marked, the weapon background check would have failed and a red flag would have gone up. He should have been arrested at the first death threat and his parents forced to take the option they had as parents to an adult son and had him confined and evaluated. The mental illness could have been diagnosed and perhaps this would never have happened.
But it was Amy’s kid, we all knew Amy and she was going to get him handled. He wouldn’t have been so agitated but perhaps the things that agitate us as Democrats agitated him — yeah, that must have been the cause.

I guess I must feel strongly about it — I posted it twice.
GEEZ! I keep spelling Tucson T-u-s-c-o-n. I’ll get it straight one of these days.
Jared Lougher ran a red light but was let off with a warning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday
“Dear Lord, doesnt any police official in that state do their job”
If only Arizona cops would detain and jail each and every person they pulled over for a traffic violation, this tragedy would have never occurred.
