You know...I just HATE to take a good disaster/catastrophe/End Times Scenario what-ever-you-call-it calamity away from anyone...

but it’s a FLOOD.

And what the people experienced in Grantham at the foot of the Range was a freak flash-flood caused by incredibly heavy torrential rain over a region of the Darling Downs which includes the city of Toowoomba, a region which was already inundated.

Grantham residents have described the freak flash-flood as ‘tsunami-like’ in an effort to describe the SPEED with which the water hit their little town. Poor little Grantham sat in the path of the water which came down several thousand feet through a number of creeks - houses were simply swept away.

To name the widespread flooding in the Brisbane region - of which the residents had been warned was to come over several days, a TSUNAMI is simply headline stuff and totally misleading.

Brisbane is flooded because it is built on a flood plain, there are five major rivers in the region, there are high tides, the water cannot flow to the ocean, a huge dam named WIVENHOE is filled to capacity and water needs to be discharged, flowing into the Brisbane River, which runs through the city centre...

Almost all the towns along the east coast of Queensland have experienced flooding for several weeks.

I think it might have something to do with heavy rain...
