Lautenberg to reintroduce gun-ban bill By Daniel Strauss - 01/10/11 05:52 PM ET
One of the Senate's most outspoken advocates of tighter gun restrictions said he plans to introduce language banning the type of supplemented gun clips that the shooter in Arizona used on Saturday.
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) promised to bring back legislation that had expired in 2004 that would prohibit the use of magazines of 10 rounds or more, according to The Associated Press.
"The only reason to have 33 bullets loaded in a handgun is to kill a lot of people very quickly. These high-capacity clips simply should not be on the market," Lautenberg said in a statement.
Lautenberg plans to file the bill later this month, after Congress reconvenes.
Law enforcement officials say that the suspect used a gun with a clip that held 33 rounds, according to the AP.
Similarly, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) announced plans for a bill that would increase gun restrictions.
Lautenberg is the worst. Isn’t he due to die from old age yet?

There are already strict gun laws on the books.

What is needed is more strict enforcement of the laws already on the books.

They want to take away our gun rights. Never mind that no law on the books would have stopped this guy. Liberals have this incredible belief no one else has, that evil people will obey printed words on paper. That’s the entire ridiculous premise behind gun control and Frank Lautenberg is proof of the errant nonsense to which people can reduce themselves.
So, Lautenberg is the final word on this? He knows the only reason anyone would want a hi-cap mag?

One bullet can still kill a person. Hey Frank - while you’re at it you old fart, ban all bullets! Why stop at just 33?
One 30 round clip = two 15 round clips = three 10 round clips = 30 rounds. A magazine can be ejected and a new one inserted and the gun ready to fire is less than a few seconds. This is just another end around the second amendment. I’m sure whatever gun control the Government comes up with will work just as good as their efforts to control illegal drugs in the past.
What does "Shall not be infringed" mean anyway?
Enforce current gun laws that prevent whack-jobs from buying guns. Even if their mommies are employed by the county.
The answer is "One"!
