A Colorado man has been arrested for allegedly threatening Democratic Senator Michael Bennet's staff two days before a gunman went on a shooting spree in Arizona that gravely injured a member of Congress, authorities said Monday.
John Troy Davis, 44, called Bennet's Denver office on January 6 seeking help with his Social Security benefits but then threatened to "come down there and shoot you all," according to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court Friday.
Before making the threats, Davis told Bennet staff members that he was "a schizophrenic and I need help," the FBI affidavit said. Davis had called Bennet's office in the last month and made threats, according to the FBI.
He was accused of making a second call to the senator's Denver office that day seeking help with his benefits and again making threats, including telling another Bennet staff member that he "may go to terrorism."
Davis was arrested over the weekend and to make an initial court appearance in Colorado Monday to be advised of the charges, according to Jeff Dorschner, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Denver.

Is that guy that killed those at Ft. Hood in death row yet?
now now, ya can't rush these things ya know, it only took Dumbo 42 days to respond to BP....4 months to respond to call for more troops, (they got half), and a full year to pin a flag on his lapel, and a half day to figure out a window is not a door in the White Hut....and two college diploma's (supposely).... it's Marine Corps, not corpses.
Having watch people I know become afflicted by this disease and change and watch the person you know disapear it is heartbreaking, If I can have permission in this PC world to dislike anything in life, it is Schizophrenia. We need to have an honest open discussion about de-institutionalization and did it or did it not work. 2nd, does any Freepers know how the Kennedy Family helped the process of de-institutionalization.
“how the Kennedy Family helped the process of de-institutionalization.”
Yeah, they sure were quick to get Rosemary out!/sarcasm

Same attitude as the limo libs, just no limo. Thanks markomalley.
His gov’t cheese was late.
“but then threatened to “come down there and shoot you all,”

EPIC FAIL, especially on the timing.
It bries that way sometimes.
I cheddar to think of the riots if gov’t freebies are cut off.
Fromage gentle political aside to this, I like it.
“His govt cheese was late.”
Not late, they just mixed the type of cheese up. One can easily understand his anger
Heh—Baby Boomer by Social Security proxy.
Yes, this shooting was John F Kennedy’s fault, hahaha! Seriously, he is the one who deinstatutionalized these people. Amazingly, it was the CONGRESS that agreed these people just needed their meds and then shove them out on the street. I’m a psych nurse. I believe one of the worst cases I ever had was when a huge man was brought to me to admit. He was there because he was found out on the street and threatening to cut someone’s head off if anyone “dissed” him. I asked him to give me an example of someone dissing him. He said “like if I walk up to a payphone and I want to use it and they don’t get off-I will cut their head off for dissing me”. We kept him THREE days, stabilized him and sent him packing with a prescription. Every single American needs to put pressure on their congressman to move some of this political waste to funding to house these people. I’ll betcha they find it pronto now that they’re so scared
I was in my early 20’s so I don’t remember how Kennedys’ did it but they were the ones. And then later on congress but the care of these people in the hands of the state and the state ran out of money. I’m in North Atlanta and I sent someone to the public health to see a doctor because they definitely needed medication. They came back to me and I was horrified. First of all they had to wait weeks for an appointment. When they got there the health dept collected their $10 or $20 fee and then told her all the staff had quit including the doctors - there was NO ONE to see. They kept her money. They told her they would call her when they hired staff. And that was about four or five years ago! None of us are safe until the government begins to protect the public health. You need to write your congressman
Alright, more seriously, I agree with you on asylums for housing those unable to care for themselves or dangerous to others due to severe mental problems—even housing them for long periods of time, subject to occasional and proper evaluations. It’s a good legislative cause. Call the asylums what they like.
I remember Jerry Rivers did a big exposay /sp on institutional mental hospitals and that set off a outcry to get rid of them and go to community housing and medication...We now know how great that works...That one put Jerry Rivers on the map as a journalist....
No one can do normal activities when 3/4 of the brain is not functioning. What is functioning is not normal behavior..
