Ashley Turton, wife of the Obama administration's House of Representatives liaison, Dan Turton, was found dead in a burning car Monday morning, Roll Call and other news outlets are reporting.
Fire officials said it appeared the car crashed as it was pulling in or out of the garage behind a rowhouse in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, D.C., at about 5 a.m. Neighbors dialed 911 after spotting the fire.
The body was discovered after fire crews doused the blaze. The fire also charred part of the garage. Nobody in the house was injured, fire officials said.
Ashley Turton worked as a lobbyist for the utility giant Progress Energy, according to Politico. She was a former staffer for U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn.
Metropolitan Police Lt. Nicholas Breul told Roll Call a joint investigation is underway. Homicide detectives were called to the scene.
"This could be just a tragic freak accident," Breul said, adding there was no indication that there was a crime committed.
The White House had no immediate comment on the incident.

Maybe she was dead already and the husband placed the body in the car and set it on fire to make it impossible to determine the cause of death. Just a theory.

If you ask TOTUS, he'll tell you Mr. Turton has a modest White House administrator's salary.

Someone took out Turton to send a message to Obama - motive? who knows.
I like a good conspiracy story as well as the next guy, but there is a plausible explanation here. What if she was out partying all night and drove home heavily under the influence. She could have done a lousy job of parking and rolled over a gasoline can causing it to rupture. The hot engine or the catalytic converter could have ignited the gas. She might have been too drunk to help herself out of the vehicle.
Hubby might be hesitant to admit that his wife was a party girl so they might cover for her behavior.

I am confused if she was going to the airport she would have hit the garage door on the way out,low speed and impossible to cause a fire in the BMW tank she was driving. If she was coming back because she forgot something she would have hit with the front of the vehicle which is designed not to cause a fire. If she hit at low speed why didn’t she exit the vehicle?
Progress Energy on Monday announced a merger with Duke Energy that would create the country’s largest utility company, Hughes said. Turton would have played a key role on Capitol Hill discussing the merger,
“She certainly would have had a role in notifying legislative staff,” Hughes said. “She was a regular liaison with staff members.”
