On at least two separate occasions yesterday, FNC talking heads made a point about the AZ gun law. My question, if all those people are running around armed (and dangerous?), why didn't one of them pull his legally carried firearm and shoot that son of a bitc# dead right after he fired his first shot? Once again, the absence of legally carried firearms leads to multiple deaths and wounds. Virginia Tech ring a bell?

And, where the hell was that loud mouth sheriff in all this? Why wasn't he or one of his like minded clones with a "legal" firearm present to protect these people from further harm?

re: why didn't one of them pull his legally carried firearm and shoot

One of those who helped hold the shooter down until police arrived was a CCW permit holder who had his weapon on him when he heard gunshots outside the drug store where he was completing a purchase. He went toward the sound of gunfire but saw they already had the person subdued and he didn't feel it would be wise to be seen waving or even holding a gun when police arrived.

Pretty sharp guy!

I have permit and a weapon. I constantly play “what-if” as I drive around. I try to envision situations where I might have to make the decision on the spur of the moment to display a weapon. 99 times out of 100 I decide very quickly it would not be wise to draw a gun in the situation.

Before I had the permit I smugly thought it would be an easy decision. Now that I have it, and a loaded weapon within easy reach, I feel quite differently about it.
