I have great fear for you, Austin used to be a lovely town (50+ years ago) and now look at it. I could cry when I, accidently, turn on Austin City Limits. I don’t know what it is but it sure isn’t the country music that used to be.

It’s the University....it happens. I don’t think it will ever infect Baylor or TCU. SMU has a raft of liberal profs but it still has a dash of conservative presence.

I used to watch Austin City Limits long ago, the first show I remember watching featured Gatemouth Brown and Vassar Clements, they performed separately and then took the stage together at the end. It was amazing, I watched many nights after that but for many years now if I turn it on I watch for two minutes and wind up shaking my head with a sick feeling as I turn it off. Ray Price is still performing but he would never be on ACL, country music is as dead as the culture that first produced it. I am old enough to remember Hank Sr., Ernest Tubb, Lefty, Ray Price when Crazy Arms was a brand new hit, there ain’t no mo’ real country.
