I am curious as to what you see is the parallel. Here is another link posted at FR about this story, a statement from Pima College about how they asked him to leave this September and recommended counseling.

I posted an FR link that should interest you at or near Comment 445. It concerns Pima College which asked him to leave after a number of disruptive acts. He was suspended in Sept. 2010, and after they visited him and his parents with the information, he formally withdrew. They also stated that he would need the approval of counselors to be readmitted Question: what did the partents do with this information? He was obviously on a downward spiral. Unlike the student shootout in Virginia, the College acted with responsibility toward their students. So the murder venue was moved to another location. How do we prevent this happening with known crazies? And how and when did he buy a semi-automatic gun? What kind of notification exists there and elsewhere for this kind of sequence?

Yeah, I know about Tucson and the enviros. I had friends who were acquainted with them when I lived there in the 70’s when I was in college. Ed Abby lived in cabin in Ventana Canyon (IIRC) and Dave Foreman who later founded Earth First was from Tucson.

I still don’t know how you make the connection with this nutcase unless the family changed its name.
