Jim and Carolyn McCullar Were 'Shaking' And 'Crying' When They Won

Jim McCullar kissed his wife, Carolyn, as he claimed his $190 million share of the Mega Millions lottery, part of the second-largest jackpot in the history of the U.S. lottery.

More Video Watch: Mega Millions Winner Comes Forward Watch: 2 Tickets Split Mega Millions Jackpot Watch: A Dollar and a Dream"I think $190 million is pretty good for this little, old Mississippi boy," Jim McCullar said. "People have been good to me all my life. It's called pay it forward."

MCuller, 68, and his wife live in Ephrata, Wash., a town of fewer than 7,000 people, where he works as a real estate agent.

McCullar is one of two people who picked the correct numbers to earn a share of a $380 million Mega Millions bonanza. The other winner, from Idaho, has not contacted lottery officials.

It was Carolyn McCullar's idea to buy two lottery tickets last Sunday while they were grocery shopping in Safeway.

I believe in Illinois this was subverted by an attorney being hired to get the money and serve as the public “face” for his client.

1. I would throw away bars of soap after the letters wear off.

2. While having all that money certainly wouldn’t buy happiness. I could hire a staff of scientist to study the problem.

3. When people talk to me, I would pretend I was listening.

4. I don’t care for shellfish for only reason: I don’t like to crack shells or peel them. I could now afford to pay an assistant to do that for me.

5. I would build a walk in humidor/wine cellar and stock it with my favorite cigars, scotch, whiskey, cognac and wine.

6. I would build a man room with dark woods, a pool table and game tables. It would be enclosed in a clean room with the air filtration system so I could smoke cigars while watching TV or playing games and the house would not stink. . . . ever.

7. From now on, someone would go to grocery store and stand in line buying everything I need. I hate going to the store.

8. I would buy FR the best computers, firewall and staff and I would never wait for a post or scream at the monitor again. It would be my gift to JR, Jim Thompson and my friends at FR.

9. I would pay someone to make me some badass logo to go with my screen name.

10. I would of course never go through withdrawals again.

The link also was to show—it was their choice to go public.

no I would not either—are you kidding me?..He gave Beck a commercial however, wonder if Beck will call and congratulate them..probably some liberals out there saying..”tax the rich guy”..”it’s not fair”.

Yes, but it would make you more comfortable while feeling sad!..and helping FR get the newest of technology and ability to put a free app on our smartphones, iPad etc..would make you smile knowing you are a true patriot to the cause!!

How much would it cost to do all this for Jim?

No, I know ..its a drop in the bucket for you the FReeper MEGA-winner; but am just curious to what it would cost to make Jim’s life easier in putting out FR.

Let me rephrase that:

With that kind of money - Whatever it takes.

Hell, I’d hire Jim Thompson and give him a car.

I could also buy him a new ride and pimp it out rightously.

Yeah, I think some bean bag chairs, limousine windows and dingle berrys hanging from windows ala Cheech and Chong.

I think the paint job would look frickin cool in purple with pearl overcoating and a giant FR logo painted right on the hood and on the rear bumper I would emblazon “If God is on our side who can be against us”.

He would get LANSAT, multiple cell phone coverage and a workcenter so he work from anywhere.

And a chauffeur who would always make sure there was ice in the vehicle and his favorite beverages.

Mighty generous of you!

The soap comment I found funny—was thinking.. I don’t have writing on my soap. I live where everyone [not me have no goats] makes goat this, goat that..bath products in a more organic state, smell good and are “cottage industry” profitable.

I’m very happy for them!

BTW, you would be surprised at how many folks up here are from MS, or their families are from MS, especially in WA.

It’s downright surreal!

I had watched the video on the ABC web page and was looking for the Glenn Beck reference. Must have missed it. Thanks.

$190 mil? What a lie. If they took the lump sum it was $80 mil. - pre tax.

Oh HEAVENS!!! How ever in the world are a 69 year old man and his wife ever ever ever going to make it on a lousy $80,000,000 for the rest of their miserable lives???

And all this hell on earth because of a crumy $2 lottery ticket!!!

OH woe is them!

Oh the humanity!

Greybeard...me thinks thou art pissing into the wind on this one!

Just pointing out the propaganda the states use in pushing the lottery. I pointed out in my post that $80 mil is still a lot of money but it still is not $190 mil.

You misrepresented my reply and I hope it was not intentional.

I read yesterday that the 80+ million is after 25% federal tax, and that there won’t be WA state tax.

$190 mil? What a lie. If they took the lump sum it was $80 mil. - pre tax. At age 68, he’d better take the lump sum, the other option is 26 annual payments, he’d be 94 when he received his last payment, if he made it that long. $80 mil is a chunk of pre tax money but it sure as heck is not $190 mil.

In general you're correct, but I think your numbers are off. The lump sum for Mega Millions is well over 50% of the annuity value. I've run the numbers before, using the top tax rates, and I estimate that the cash option for Mega Millions is about 40% of the "jackpot" value, after taxes. (Powerball has a lower cash payout, and works out closer to 1/3.)

That's using my Maryland income tax rates, which is about 7.5% state and county combined.
