“Bingo” I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they went to her in private and told her they didn't want this to happen but they have to let her go or take a chance on losing Govt.funding.

It’s all about the loss of gov’t funding that they don’t want to happen. They were desperate in their attempts to keep the gov’t dollars coming in, to the point that they most unwillingly sacrificed one of their own in order to stave off what hopefully will be the inevitable, defunding by the new Pub House of Reps, new holders of the money purse, heh, heh, heh.
