Steny Hoyer: I’m thinking most Tea Partiers probably come from unhappy families

I’m amazed. Not that a Democrat would say it — this is straight out of the Harry Reid songbook — but that it would come from someone like Hoyer who’s not normally given to bomb-throwing. In fact, you can tell that this sort of thing isn’t his forte: As thumbnail psychoanalyses of political opponents go, it’s one of the lamest examples I’ve ever heard.

In fairness, the man’s hurting right now after being unceremoniously dumped back into the House minority. And look on the bright side: A year ago, their catch-all explanation for tea party motivations was racism. (For Howard Dean, it still is.) Now, per Hoyer, it’s upgraded to family dysfunction, a condition that’s downright sympathetic. You’re not evil anymore! You’re just … sad. Aw:

There are a whole lot of people in the Tea Party that I see in these polls who don’t want any compromise. My presumption is they have unhappy families. All of you have been in families: single-parent, two-parents, whatever. Multiple parent and a stepfather. The fact is life is about trying to reach accommodation with one another so we can move forward. That is certainly what democracy is about. So if we are going to move forward compromise is necessary.

And that’s why wanting to reform entitlements necessarily means tension around the dinner table. Exit question via Newsbusters: Could the real problem with tea partiers be, in the eloquent words of Joy Behar, that “this Constitution-loving is getting out of hand”? Watch the clip and I think you’ll agree that it sounds scary. And not just because “smart liberal” Bill Press seems to believe there’s a right of privacy somewhere in the constitutional text.

“Let me see if I can be nice.... ok... I have it...
WHAT AN IDIOT.”

i won’t be so nice. Hoyer is a two-bit low class scum-bag who has lived off the public teet for most of his adult life. A typical condescending Democrat hack how obviously comes from a very safe Dem controlled district.

Hey Steny, we’re happy, but especially happy after the November election. And we’ll be even more happy when you’re no longer in office.

Thank you. Thank you very much. This is such an honor. I don’t know where to start. First, I’d like to thank God for making this moment possible. And, of course, I’d like to thank my mom and dad for having me. I could go on and on but I hear the music playing so let me just say I love you all. God bless you and God bless America. Wooooo!

Well, we’re unhappy NOW, Sten. Not as much as before the election, though.

Actually, I think the louder these people squeal the better it’ll be for the rest of the country. They are showing their true colors. The liberal dems remind me of high school. Childish, snooty, arrogant, selfish, tone deaf, think they know it all, just like many teenagers.

And I am sure all those student anarchists that break windows and burn things come from stable happy caring families......

My lifelong pursuit of pointing out that Dummies are Dumb is apparently becoming a trend. Why else would the Dum propagandist pull such a DUMB stunt?

Maybe we’re taking this the wrong way — perhaps he’s admitting that families find this Administration’s policies unsupportable and so we’re unhappy??!!!!

per Hoyer, it’s upgraded to family dysfunction

Not to be confused with liberal Columbia professor and huffpo blogger daughters' consensual incestuous relationship. Who exactly is the dysfunctional family?

Liberal pukes.

"Obviously our prisons are full of people reared in Tea Party households."

Speaking of prisons, I "Ha a thawt th' other day".

You can tell when a society is on the verge of destruction when they let felons loose on themselves because the prisons are too overcrowded (NOT!), rather than correct the PC coddling of these people that allow them repeated offenses in the first place!

To Steny:

THe weirdo world of liberal “privacy”: “so, okay, I’ll trade you my hiding of having AIDS for your hiding me of doing drugs, and now we are a happy family”.

“Steny Hoyer: I’m thinking most Tea Partiers probably come from unhappy families”

In my case, he’s right. Besides dad, everyone else is/was a flaming lefty on medication, seeing a therapist or just plain sad.

When I was 13,I saw the light of conservatism in 1980 from Ronald Reagan and have been stable since.

+1.

We know who we are, and we know this is a slur. This is really directed at people that are on the fence to prevent them from joining the Tea Party.

I think the New York Times should investigate this—really. They set out to prove the “tea partiers are dumb” mantra, and what did they find? That tea partymembers are, on average, BETTER EDUCATED than the average American. Their little stunt backfired on them. Instead of proving tea partiers were stupid, they proved that tea partiers are “the smart ones.”
