The photograph presents an interesting basis for a little speculation; i.e. the picture as a picture could just as easily depict the putting up of the name plate as the taking it down. It is due to information derived from sources other than the photograph itself that we “know” the sign is being taken down. (By the way Hip Hip Hooray the old witch is dead.)
I offer the following: If the sign was being installed, surely the left side would be screwed down first.
Since the left side was the first to be unscrewed, it is definitely coming down.
Plus there are two workers, because each of them wanted to be able to tell their grandchildren about the event some day.
