At some point they might realize that the coach is not the problem up there in Michigan (or Notre Dame). It's the cold. Top recruits don't really want to play there when they can go to the warm, southern schools with lax academic standards and rowdy girls.

Rodriguez couldn't get the athletes needed to compete.

I understand that Stanford coach and Michigan alum Jim Harbaugh is NOT interested, and will probably end up in the NFL.

Maybe he can get the Pitt job. That would be fun at the Backyard Brawl...

I kinda wonder if Rich Rodriguez will end up at University of Connecticut since now there is a opening in the football program for a new head coach, with Randy Edsall has left to go to University of Maryland.

Looks like in retrospect he should have just stayed in West Virginia. They must be getting a kick out of this.

Not sure about the weather aspect. “Top” recruits with visions of the NFL are going to have to get used to the cold at some point.

And actually Rodriguez got a lot of skilled offensive players. What he didn’t get (or spend time recruiting, evidently) was linemen and linebackers.

He seemed to do alright at West Virginia (Morgantown is not exactly paradise). He is probably questioning why he ever left there in the first place.

I guess that explains why Oregon is playing for a national championship.

I’m grateful for Rich going to Michigan. His hiring brought Ryan Mallet to Arkansas. GO HOGS!

Isn’t Michigan the school that gave prospective students higher admission points for being black, than for having a perfect score on the SAT?

That’s also a pretty poor standard... ;)

Now who will Tressel slap around every November? Maybe they’ll re-hire Lloyd Carr.

Untrue. I have spoken to quite a few Michiganders, and they tell me he just isn’t a Michigan guy. They did the right thing and need to get a decent Coach in there.

Spoken like a true Big Ten fan.

In any event, all I can say is that it couldn’t happen to a better guy. /s

I’d say he should go back home but he’s not welcome.

Doesn't anyone know this report is false?

There has been no firing............yet.

It may still happen, but Brandon and Rodriguez met for four hours today, and will meet again tomorrow.
